I thought that was a sad and pointless fight. Morales should have avenged his loss against Zahir Raheem. Morales lost to a boxer who was way inferior to Pacquiao, and before that, Morales kicked Pacquiao's ass.
Nah......not pointless. Morales beat Pac in the first fight and Pac beat Morales in the second one so the third fight was unavoidable. It would have been unfinished business if it had not happened. It was fun to watch though.
i put it on the lines of this 3rd marquez fight...its a decent fight...even though JMM is 38 years ...name one featherweight ,lightweight that was even close to his league at 38...there is NO ONE...but being the best 38 year old former 126 pounder wont save him from a beating... better fights out there...YAWNER for me...
I think the Marquez fight is a bit better, since Marquez is still dominant at lightweight, there's just a question mark as to how his reflexes or weight-gain will affect him. With Morales, there was little question left as to his abilities on that level of competition, at that weight.
Nice troll thread. Raheem got nothing but a fluke victory, right place, right time. Got an unmotivated Morales looking ahead to a Pac rematch, in his first fight at lightweight. Morales > Raheem, always, no debate necessary. It's like saying De La Hoya should've rematched Sturm instead of fighting Hopkins (he also had no chance, also a much more meaningful fight than a Sturm rematch), and claiming Oscar's victims before that lost to a faded De La Hoya because a lesser fighter Sturm beat him in at an unnatural weight. And beating Pacquiao 7-5 isn't exactly kicking his ass (Didn't DLH beat Floyd 7-5 on one of the cards?. Third fight wasn't necessary, Morales being the warrior he is deserved the chance. He showed after against Diaz he wasn't completely shot, and came back a few years later to almost beat the guy who destroyed Ortiz and gave 140 king Khan his most competitive fight.
Because he really went on to show how great he was. Had he fought a focused Morales at 130 he would've been destroyed. Raheem-Morales belongs in the same category as Prescott-Khan, Tszyu-Phillips, Torrecampo-Pacquiao
I'm hoping that JMM will eschew the conventional wisdom and not try and bulk up or pack on too much weight for this fight. I think he'd be better served coming in around 140 then trying to hit the 144 mark. It's not like Pac is going to enter the ring weighing 160 or anything.

Raheem did a nice job against Morales. And he did what he was supposed to do which in pure boxing circles means, "out box" your opponent. I gotta admit, Arum f*cked him in the ass big time. Dude went to obscurity after beating Morales.

Pac did mention in an interview (right after the second fight) that a third fight is not needed. He said something like 'Do you really want to see him KTFO again?'.
It is amazing that an even more past his prime Morales was able to fight competitively against the actual real, hungry lion, Ortiz' daddy Marcos Maidana.
