I'd be surprised if Abraham landed that many. In fairness to AA, he was taking a huge amount of Ward's punches to the gloves. Although the jab was effective at keeping AA off him, Ward wasn't scoring a lot of those punches. Froch was shooting straight through the middle and actually scoring with the jab.
If I had my way we would do one of two things. We would either drop all the punch stat nonsense, or we would find a way to make sure the guy counting punches is sober and competent. Every once in awhile I see a fight where the punch stats seem to be pretty accurate. Most of the time that is not the case. Most of the time the stats seem like bull****. A guy counting punches and pushing a button does not tell us **** about who won a fight. Sometimes I think the guy compiling the stats must have been drunk!
