the 2 main reasons why calzaghe was the man



1 - he could adjust to his opponent in the ring, he could adapt - he has a plan B

2 - when faced with adversity, he rose to the challenge every single time, thats what seperates the men from the boys and where so many other fighters are not fit to carry calzaghes jockstrap.

 

Anyone that says Calzaghe is not a great fighter is a ****in biased *****.

One of Calzaghe's best traits was his ability to come back... every time he was caught or dropped the first thought was always to come back throwing and 9 times out of 10 he'd get the better of the exchange. On the 'slapper' comments he always attracts ... yeah he winged punches sometimes, but he could also throw decent straight shots... watch the Lacey fight! Lacey and Kessler's faces after their fights with him seemed to show he carried a bit of power!

 

I'm not a Joe fan, but people like you **** me off.

If a fighter dominates his division, you call it weak.

If a fighter has tough fights or loses a couple, you would say he never dominated so can't be considered great.

Either way, you win.

 

A prime RJJ would have smacked Calzaghe around like a little girl. He would have been a totally routine, humdrum title defense for RJJ and even the biggest Calzaghe fan knows it. They just won't admit it.

These threads are pathetic that call a guy the "best ever" at relativly new boxing weights, and they are never the best fighter that fought there they just hid out there forever. Many better fighters fought this weight class, they just didnt stay there as it was devoid of talent, even Joe himself dodged the best while hiding in there.

The **** are you talking about? If that was the case, I wouldn't be holding a picture of Morales in my avatar. Or have Pacquiao as my favourite fighter. Or think so highly of Hopkins. All of these great fighters have had numerous losses. I couldn't give a toss about that. All I care about is the opposition they've fought, and the wins they have over them.

The fact is, the 168 division, historically, has never been the most competitive. Guys like Jones and Toney, only made quick stops before moving on. Or if you're Hopkins, you skip the division all together.

And it's funny how you mention Kessler - considered to be great only by Zaggy fans - going on to beat Froch (who I've never rated that highly), yet ignore his schooling at the hands of a young, relatively green Andre Ward. And yes, Bika gave Ward a tough fight (if you consider losing almost every round on all the scorecards, tough ), but it was no more tougher than what Zaggy experienced. It doesn't mean ****. It was just a stay-busy fight for someone who was still only a 22-fight professional (compared to Zaggy who was 41 fights in).

And yes, this crop of 168 pounders aren't all that, either (apart from Ward). I'm not one of those who has let the hype of the Super Six convince me that these guys are better than what they are. Prime versions of Toney, Hopkins and Jones would all **** on the Super Six lot with ultimate ease.

And tell me this, what does it say about Zaggy, when a relatively new man such as Carl Froch - who everyone unanimously agrees would lose to Zaggy - has a more solid resume at 28 fights than what Calzaghe mustered in 46?

 

He's def one of the best supermiddle's of alltime.

I mean Hopkins gets ranked as one the best middle s of alltime yet Joe pretty much mirrored what Hopkins did in his own division yet people want to deny him his due ?

 

Even though Joe had a 98% chance of winning...


He didnt want none of the Ghost who offered 10 mil, instead he took 5 mil 2 fight RJJ.
