Phil Austin. I cant even come up with another two names for 2 and 3. Overall, we have some useless and incompetent refs. Memo: shipley, dean, mcmahon and co. Here's a tale for a lol....we had a guy in a fight on a small show in nsw. The opponent repeatedly kept popping his shoulder and had to stop fighting and have it popped back in. Of course the fighter should have been waved off as you cant just stop and have a time out to repair the injury. Anyway, this fighter was allowed to continue after SIX stoppages and complete the fight. He won on points. In fairness, he deserved to get the decision based on the score cards. But of course he should have lost retired injured, tko...whatever you call it. When i questioned the the ref afterwards on why the opponent was given all those breaks to treat an injury and why the fight wasnt stopped he simply said "look, its a small show tonight, we have to let it go on for the crowd". It was this boys home crowd, he had three quarters of the crowd there to support him. LOL. I laughed and walked away but hey, atleast he was being totally honest.
Phil Austin actually is 1 of the best refs in this country. Garry Dean also is not too bad. Some shockers include Chris Anderson, Alan Moore, Les Fear, Anthony Shipperly, Brian McMahon, Cyril Cairns. Im sure i have forgotten some other classic poor officials. Most of these being incompetent or so old they need 10 yrs to get in & break em up.
You just jogged my memory...thats the guy who i was talking about in my previous post. He is useless.
Alan moore is a health hazard. Kegs, thats a good list of terrible refs you got. Russell mora even thinks they are an embarrassment to the sport.
Well mate when something dodgy goes down in the ring....more often that not those names are the refs. Chris Anderson - Yes man for WBF & big moment choker. Les Fear - Incompetent. Best big moment choker of them all. Woeful ref. Alan Moore - Old, slow motion. Brian McMahon - Old, slow motion. Cyril Cairns - Not as old as the other 2, still slow motion to react. Anthony Shipperly - Seems to favour 1 boxer over the other nearly every match of his i see. Slightly better version of Les Fear IMO.
And also IMO the best Am reff is Carl Ruhen for sure, he was always on the ball and knew when a kid was hurt or had enough but never stepped in too early like most of the clowns getting around.
derek milhams on the list too. although havent seen him in the ring for a while, dont know whether hes called it a day or what
