exactly. thats what makes those fighters so special. they had to fight real opponents, and there was a wealth of local talent. there were thousands of regestered australian pro boxers. now we would be lucky to have 200. when darcy fought it was even bigger here. everyone fought. kids at school would fight at luch time for recreation. darcy far exceeded any of his countrymen. he was a freak, he could have made it in any era.
am i seeing things or there a match scheduled for 11 rounds on that same day in panama? why would you schedule a match for 11 rounds?
New system , 11 is an odd number obviously if it 5-5 after 10 it's all on the last round , makes for a better final round if it's tied as well
The WBA have brought in 11 & 9 round matches for some of their regional titles. It has been happening for the last couple years in Latin America.
Not a bad idea. They can then have an 11 round world title belt. Could not unify with the super or regular champ because they go over 12, so would be an indipendent belt. Good idea.
