Benitez , being a 17 year old champion is unheard of.

I am asking for who you think was greater over the course of their career, not who had the single greater achievement.

youngest man to win a title. 3 division champion. Went 15 round with Hearns,Leonard and Duran. Beat Cervantes, Palomino,Duran. He was the only guy I saw who ever made Hearns miss body punches.

not close to the level of Benitez. There was another poll a week or two ago comparing Cuevas to Buchanan and I still thought Cuevas came out on top especially with his title reign and Buchanan's lack of title fights regardless of the Laguna fights.

Hmmm. I expected Benitez to come out on top here, but thought Buchanan would get a bit more love. He has the edge on Benitez in some aspects, and was a great fighter.

To be honest, polls are unpredictable. Buchanan might get a surge of votes for him and even it out or get close.

    Because he beat Duran, duh!

You know thats what MAG is thinking

I have to go with El Radar as well. Youngest champ, youngest 3 weight division champ, excellent wins over Cervantes, Palomino, and Duran, and was one of the greatest defensive fighter in his prime.

it is a toss up. I admit the Laguna fights were probably greater than any win Cuevas had, yet the amount of title fight wins and the consistency of Cuevas with guys like Shields and Weston is what made me vote for him over Buchanan, although Shields and Weston do not compare to Laguna. It could go either way. Matters what criteria someone uses. Some might even argue that Buchanan beating Laguna is a better win at lightweight than Duran ever had.
