This has been done before I'm sure.. And frankly, I think he is an ATG, but probably not very high as greats go....

    Thoughts?

I would say no way. He had the potential to be, but he never reached that level.

He's not an ATG, but how many Super Featherweights would you favour to beat him?

    I'd favour:

    Chavez
    Mayweather
    Nelson (at his best)
    Chocolate
    Arguello
    Pacquiao

    And give good/decent chances to:

    R. Mayweather
    Elorde
    Navarette
    Lockridge
    Marquez

Off the top of the head.

I'm arguably one of the biggest MAB fans on the board, but I certainly wouldn't favour him against a 130lbs Camacho. Barrera isn't going to outbox the much faster man, and he isn't going to stop a guy who moved up and took Chavez's best for 12 rounds either.

Alexis Arguello, Floyd Mayweather Jr, and Bobby Chacon would all struggle against Camacho. In my opinion, at least.

Out of all the Super Featherweights to come after him, I'd probably only favour Floyd Mayweather Jr.

I think you might be overrating him. Most people have a tendency to do that after watching a few fights/highlights of the young Camacho. I'm not necessarily saying that's what you're doing, but it would help to know how much you've seen of him. The guy was far from flawless, even with that speed. He always had the same flaws defensively.

The only thing that keeps me from outright favouring Uncle Roger is his chin, as Camacho had legit pop in his youth. Stylistically he'd be a nightmare for Macho Man, though.

Who would you favour him over from my list? Chavez?

Yes, Camacho is HOF bound one of these years.... He's fought for friggin' + or - 30 years and has a great record that entails every Tom, Dick or Harry who ever laced up the gloves, plus, he was never KO'd.... 'Nuff said.....

Admittedly, I haven't seen a great deal of Hector Camacho at 130lbs. Mainly the Limon fight and some highlights. But I also take what I've seen of him from higher weights and take that into account also when matching him against other Super Featherweights. You could be right - I might be overrating what limited amount of footage I have seen.

No, I certainly wouldn't favour Camacho to defeat Chavez.

I think Alexis Arguello would have a lot of trouble pinning someone as fast & as mobile as Camacho down. Arguello was a patient fighter, but that could work against him here. He could be losing rounds very quickly by just stalking his man, following him around the ring.

I've not seen enough of Chocolate and Nelson to comment.

I think Camacho back in '92 could've beaten Chavez had the fight been at 147 pounds..... Camacho was already struggling at 140 by 1991 with his two fights against Haugen..... Christ, even Camacho said he had to dry out to make 140 for Chavez...... I'm just saying that Camacho was drained in 1992 while Chavez was at his best at 140 pounds......

Yes he is. He fought everyone, beat many names, and had great longevity. Lots of guys would not have taken out an aging Ray Leonard, who was essentially his contemporary, like Camacho did.

Absolutely. But at some point he's getting hurt, at which point Arguello would put the fear in him a la Rosario.
