That is possible. It could have also been illegal pain meds, or some sort of sugar mix. We will never know. Panama Lewis was a talented trainer, and very skilled in the black arts of boxing.
Thats just bull****. There's a reason championship fights were 15 rounds, a fighter of the known caliber of Arguello (who was landing big shots and had slowed Pryor down) is never out of a fight as long as he's still standing and throwing punches. The bottom line is that Pryor most likely had a little something extra in his kool aid that let him get his "second wind" and come back strong in the 14th and close the show. I don't know how any boxing fan can think thats dismissable and give Pryor full credit for that win.
When was Pryor slowing down? The full fight is on Youtube. Point me to the rounds (I'd assume you were referring to the rounds leading up to the KO) where he had noticeably slowed in comparison to earlier. Seriously, I think a lot of you just need to re-watch the fight. It's not as if Pryor was gasping for breath at the end of round 13 and then came blazing directly out of his corner in round 14. He fought that round the exact same way he'd been fighting the previous ones (i.e. moving in and out, intertwining between jabbing and swarming, etc.), the only difference was that he managed to hurt Arguello with one big shot, and only then did he pounce, finishing him with an awesome barrage of accurate punches.
Probably some stimulant like an amphetamine such as ephedrine or caffeine. them things can only do so much. credit has to be given to pryor for his natural amazing work rate I personally know loads of people who take e.c.a and other stimulants and they can barely do cardio
All the "Pryor was winning anyway" crowd seem to assume that the "one I mixed" bottle had not been used earlier. Perhaps that's why Aaron was so fresh for so long? And I still find it hard to believe that a guy with a questionable chin like Pryor took that shot on the bottom of the chin (pulling his head back and chin up) could shake that off. Unless he got by with a little help from his genie in the bottle. I'm sure McGwire and Canseco would have hit a lot of home runs without steroids ... but when they cheated it made everything they did suspect. And Aaron (and his corner) clearly cheated.
