Has Sky already lost to BoxNation?

It's not as if Fwank dropped it on them a few days before he launched Boxnation offically. The channel has been going since the summer showing repeats of old fights Fwank promoted. If nobody in their big paid jobs at Sky had the common sense to say "Hey, question Fwank, that channel there thats showing old fights that you promoted, you wouldn't happen to know what thats about would you, or what the plans for it are " well then more fool them!! Boxnation was going on Sky well before Clev-Bellew, Burns-Katsidis or any of the top international fights were made. I fail to see how Fwank stitched them up. The ball was well and truly in their court.

 

there is a market for MMA especually UFC. Theres a reason why ESPN invested in UFC and never show boxing.

Just because ESPN show UFC doesnt mean anything, it proves nothing about the popularity of the 'sport'.

ok but other things prove its popular. more people went to MMA shows than boxing in the UK last year. UFC come here and sellout arenas. Has a single boxing show sold out a massive arena this year?

 

When there are big fights, big arenas get filled for boxing, how many big fights has there been in the UK this year. I wouldnt be surprised if some of the UFC shows get bigger crowds than some of the boxing shows in the UK this year, but that is anecdotal and cannot be extrapolated as a general view. A lot of the time, when anecdotal comparisons, the actual fight card that you are comparing is filled with uncompetitive fights.

the only way they get 100k is if they have khan, mayweather and pacquiao fighting on their channel, if they don't they won't get 60k.

your right that football is what killed setanta, they paid over the odds for the football and never gained enough subscribers.

UFC is pretty big over here now, there are more MMA gyms opening up and the generals are catching up on whos who in the sport. Apart from Khan, Haye, Pacquiao and mayweather I bet the more generals know who brock lenar is than any other active boxer (not including mega aged Jones Jnr and Holyfield).

Getting them on board and growing the boxing/mma fans together isn't a bad idea imo - if it helps sustain the channel for longer without diluting the programming then that is cool with me. not sure if both combined can still reach the required numbers.

giving some cards away to terrestrial advertising the boxing on Boxnation a bit similar to what 5/primetime do might help

Tomorow nights fight is not sold out. The arena is 10,000 max I beleive. A scouse fighter in a world title fight.

I guess its time for boxing promoters to put on competative fights.......I won't hold my breath.

 

I dont think losing any boxing is any big deal for Sky.
