If Anderson beats Sonnen again, will he overtake Fedor as the GOAT, or not?

My problem with Sonnen is the 11 loses.

Can someone explain to me why he has so many losses and why he is now a clear no2 in the MW division?

    What's that all about?

I am aware of who won the fight and how, but the fact (whether we like it or not) is that Sonnen was very clearly winning the fight throughout up until the endpoint. You don't seem aware of that. I'd suggest watching the fight again with a clear mind, leaving the baggage you apparently carry on this issue at the door. Either that or you could **** off, I'm not fussed which option you choose.

I don't think current rankings, in boxing or MMA, are constructed on the basis of who has fewest losses. If they were, then Michael Bisping would rank higher than Anderson Silva since he has 3 losses to Silva's 4, and Vitor Belfort would rank lower than Steve ****ing Cantwell, since Vitor has 9 and Cantwell only has 5. What's much more important to the current rankings than the mere numerical figure in Sonnen's loss column is the way he has bulldozed three top contenders in his last three non-title fights, barely losing a round to Marquardt, Okami and Stann.

because he cannot defend the take down and still comes out victorious thats why he cant deal with them. he has so many problems and gets so dominated, his hand gets raised every time.

My unbiased opinion as usual, is that yes, Spider Silva is the greatest of all time :thumbsup

I understand that, but comparing 3 or 4 losses as u have with the respected fighters in question is a lot different to the no: 11 Sonnen has next to his name.

I guess my question is why has he lost so many fights?

Doesn't matter, he was dominating all of his losses

I already have him there but beating the **** out of Sonnen and erasing any doubt there would be the icing on the cake.

    His submission defense is terrible.

The UFC pisses me off, we get a fighter like Silva and they dont make super fights. There is GSP and plenty of fights at LHW yet we have to see him against fighters we know he will beat. I give a pass on the Sonnen fight because of the way it ended but why not get Silva to move up with all the super fights to be had? Sonnen, then GSP or Rua, Hendo, Machida, Bones at LHW is the logical move but look for a Bisping fight instead

^^GSP don't want none of Anderson Silva at the moment.. Maybe if/when The Spider has clearly lost a step of two. But as of right now? GSP's body isn't ready although he walks around several pounds above the MW limit.

A few of Silva's close friends and training partners are UFC LHWs, I can understand him being in no rush at the age of 36 to make a LHW title run.. This isn't Greg Jackson's gym, it's Blackhouse.. Don't try to compare the two.

There will be no doubt about him being #1 if he can beat Sonnen all over again.

He doesnt want to go up in weight to LHW cuz he has other teammates there and he doesnt want to end up fighting his teammates who are like his brothers most people saw the reaction vid when Big Nog won agaisnt Shaub.
He just doesnt want to end up fighting Machida, Lil Nog or Cavalcante if they get him into the UFC as he doesnt look to shabby

In response to thread title - NO !

Anderson will be a huge favourite so you might as well place him over Fedor even before he beats Sonnen.

Fedor is still the clear GOAT, the harder question is who is 2nd ?
Anderson ain`t close to Fedor in ATGness as things stand.....

    IMO.
