Do people really think Dawson can beat Hopkins?

Every time Hopkins fights he's an underdog. This has been going on for the last and best 6 years of his career. He has only ever lost to one southpaw who was p4p number 1 at the time. I'm not complaining but I just don't get how people are so thick.

honestly...yes...he CAN....but will he? that is the real question.
Chad Dawson has excellent hand speed, height, range, defensive capabilities...youth & the experience of losing a big fight...he is now hungry...

but does he have an aggressive mentality now? or high work rate?
He needs all of these to beat Bhop

I would like to see Hopkins win but its a tough fight for him. Plus Hopkins could hit the wall at anytime he is getting very old. Look at what Taylor did to Hopkins, Dawson can do some of the same things but is more athletic and bigger and Hopkins has aged a lot since the Taylor fights.

I agree, he can but it's more like 5/1 than 4/5 like the bookies have it. He's lost the fire lately and Hopkins is great against southpaws.

Hopkins was drained against Taylor. Dawson has greater size and combination speed but not the p4p stamina, power and ring IQ that Taylor had at the time. Also Hopkins is very good against southpaws.

He was also 7 years or so younger and is now 46. I think Hopkins can win but Dawson is a tough challenge. Funny thing is I can imagine both Hopkins and Dawson winning the fight fairly easy. Will be interesting to see how things play out.

    Yes I really thought so...

But now I read Dwyer picked Chad to win, so I'm starting to doubt it.

Yes Pascal was dominating him in the rematch til he gassed

As long as Dawson doesnt show the old man too much respect he will push him

My guess is he will use a lot of movement and make the old man use his legs

he has quick combinations and may even be more saftey first and defensive minded than Hopkins

I get the idea that he will make Hopkins be the aggressor which may benefit Bernard on the cards

but I think Dawson will win

    :huh

Taylor was actually known for having poor stamina, often fading late in fights. His ring IQ was poor as well.

He can and he will. Wrong fight for Bernard.

Of course he can. Hopkins, despite being a freak, is 46 and Dawson is a cagey, rangy slick fighter. This is destined to be a close and contreversial decision in an uneventful fight. When the fight was initially announced I picked Hopkins. I still do but I wouldn't be shocked in the slightest if Dawson stole this down the stretch.

A.Maxx - I knew a ***** would say that. Taylor had great stamina back then and was p4p better than Dawson is now. Dawson lost to Pascal and has looked only about the same standard as Pascal of late. Difference is Hopkins great against southpaws and this is not in Dawson's backyard.
