Regardless of how you feel about the outcome in the fight, do you expect the Hopkins-Dawson TKO result to be changed? And if so, to what? NC or DQ?

Yes, it was clearly illegal. I was watching a boxing show after the fight, it should have been no contest or disq. Max said it was not legal also.

It will probably be overturned but shouldn't. Hopkins faked the injury. I have seen fighters go down harder in fights and get right back up. Even when Hearns went down against James Kinchen, he hit the canvas harder than Hopkins did.

I wish this fight can be erased from all of our memories like that Charlie Kaufman movie...

We can't know if Hopkins faked it. All we can go by is whether or not a fighter shoved out of a clinch who falls and cannot continue should be awarded a loss, and his tosser a win.

That simply doesn't look legal to me, to lift an opponent off the ground out of a clinch.

If Hopkins proves that he was really injured, then I think it will end as NC.

Cotto slammed Clottey worse than that. If I remember correctly, Barerra slammed Hamed pretty hard, too. The difference is, they both got up. Hopkins didn't. The man is in remarkable shape not only for a 46 year old, but for a man of ANY age, yet he gets that hurt off a little tumble to the canvas? I mean, COME ON! :fire

My dad 'tumbled' in a similar manner around that age and had to get surgery. He wasn't about to fight no Chad Dawson minutes afterwards, either.

We can't know if he was faking. The fact is a fighter should not be awarded a technical knockout victory due to a shove and fall out of a clinch. It's just not boxing.

chad totally leverage slammed him into the ground, even taking away his leg so he couldn't right himself, it is not just illegal and dirty, but resulted in an injury (separation of the acromioclavicular (A-C) joint which connects the collar bone and shoulder blade)... this injury is known to cause severe pain at time of occurence

it is a DQ at a minimum

But Hopkins is an athlete! Jerry Rice played into his 40s, and you never saw him get hurt off normal tackles...

According to the WBC rules, even following a foul (which some people think the referee missed), it is the referee's discretion which fighter he declares the winner. He could have done what he did, full stop.

Therefore, since there is no legal reason to overturn the verdict, I suspect it won't be changed, though an immediate rematch decision would not surprise me.
