lolwatch it again B hop tried to knee him grab him hold jump on his back is this mma now or boxing he got what he dished out end of story
There is no excusing reaching around and grabbing a fighters legs as you shove them. That's not boxing, and not appropriate in any sort of clinch.
thats true....but i just think way too early for such info to be given to hopkins and his people just being spot on and handing over to reporters a few hours later...fishy! but im a skeptic , its my job to go..hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
lol... he tried to knee him? :rofl Hopkins went in for a right hand lead, Dawson ducked under,Hopkins attempts to grab em, Dawson grabs his leg and throws em to the canvas. This content is protected .. and the way he deals with it after makes matters worse. If anything he should've said I'm no here to make a any judgement calls.. the referee was the one that ruled it a TKO.. but if Hopkins wants to do it again, we can do it again. And the saddest part in my opinion is, that this may be the end of a legend's career. Who knows if at age 46 he'll be able to recover to a point where he can fight again. Plus he'll need to take some time off and at that age the inactivity will ruin him.
Watch the top-down view. The issue is when Chad's head aligns with the bottom of the E, coming from further back. Hopkins throws a right. Then he step forward with the right leg from the momentum. Chad starts his rugby tackle. He meets Bernard half-way (this is when his head aligns to the bottom of the E). Bernard didn't get to put his right leg on the floor as he was shoulder-charged in the mid-section in mid-movement. From the impact, his right knee raises and his torso lowers, draping himself over Dawson. Chad continues his tackling motion, bowling Hopkins over.
Look at the gifs right above my post. Dawson at one point has his glove behind Hopkins leg, but he never uses it to grab the leg and toss him. Dawson never lifted Hopkins with his arm or glove. Dawson removed his glove from behind Hopkins leg and used his shoulders to lift and toss Hopkins.
The way his left glove moved the leg forward behind the knee did not allow him proper footing once his shoulder-shove landed him back on the canvas. It affected the way his leg moved. It didn't just brush it. It brought it forward. Regardless, lifting your opponent off of his feet and pushing him off of you does not warrant a TKO victory at all.
You know what? I think there's a good chance the fight is going to get overturned and ruled a no-contest. But I have no problem with what the refs decision was. Hopkins was warned earlier in that round for pushing down on Dawson. He then climbs on top of Dawson and Dawson in self defense tosses him. If a fighter climbs on you, you're within your rights to manuever out of it. I think the ref was thinking it was accidental, but there's no proof other than Hopkins saying its dislocated, that Hopkins is really injured. I think the ref made his decision based on his opinion that he must have thought Hopkins was faking the injury. .....and you know what, I've seen a few fights where fighters have tried to bail after getting low blowed. In those cases, the ref gives a fighter 5 minutes to recover or he gets disqualified. In a case where the injury is'nt obvious and actually looks faked. I dont see why the ref cant make a decision to not call a foul and rule it a tko victory, especially knowing that Hopkins has tried to fake injuries before.
Dawson slips a right hand, Hopkins tries to hold while Dawson is still ducking low, and Dawson shoves him up and outward. It's not a blatant foul, but let's not make it out like Hopkins missing a right and trying to hold while making contact with Dawson on the inside was some sort of crime. I think that shoves can happen to a certain degree, and in this case, no punches caused the victory. The referee has no way to tell if Hopkins were faking or not, so he should go by the rules, which if I'm not mistaken, don't award non-punching related injuries except for explicit forfeit.
