It's hard to know, BHOPs is the boy who's called wolf so many times, if it is genuine he might not be able to box again, so if we see a rematch in 3-5months it was faked and Hops thought he was getting a DQ win Looking at him he doesn't move that left arm shoulder so maybe he isn't acting On the first he's lying, bad reffing though Any excuse to post this [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QY1jzjTjIhY[/ame]
Legendary performance by Danny Williams, regardless as to the level as a boxing fan you gotta go tentpole seeing that, incredible show of willpower that
Completely different injury, Cerdan had a rotator injury, which is painful, a dislocated shoulder means the shoulder is out and unusable - see Danny Williams
this is how I see it, I will give him the benifit of doubt however, maybe he did suffer an injury, it's hard to see one taking place though. Maybe the missed punch he threw! a split second reaction from a man in a crouched position, you duck, you followit by another weave, or you stand upright again... well trying to stand up in natural motion, but theres a guy hanging all over you in the getting up motion you sort of 'heave' him off of you. very natural, and unitentional steps that all transpired in approx 1 second, plus or minus a couple of .01 .02 time line! Bhop IS A crafty "non runner" who has pulled off some terrible victories, I fear this looked an opportunity in his cheating mind to win on a DQ! SRR 25 years of greatness against GREATER Opposition X 3 times the number of fights, never disgraced, that's greatness Bernard!!!
100% fake. Hopkins has annoyed me for years with this ****, particularly against Calzaghe. The referee made a correct decision by not calling foul and TKO. Hopkins knew he wasn't able to have his way with Dawson (who is a bad stylistic matchup for him anyway), saw a way out, and took it. Hopkins landed on his ass/hips, only after that his elbow hit the canvas. I'm not impressed by an "official" (as in: he gets paid for it) report from Dr. Shaw Hi about the injury. In the grand scheme of things, I don't think it hurts his legacy. At 46 years old, I don't blame him for quitting in a legacy-type of view. But make no mistake about it, he did quit.
My 2 cents. Hopkins whole game plan, was to mind **** Dawson. Myself and most posters here though that would probably be the case, we were all wondering where Dawsons mind would be and all the Steward stuff as well. Come fight night, DAwson was ready to fight, Hopkins realised this from the first 2 rounds. Dawson was physically bigger and stronger and controlling the fight with his jab. There was no way Hopkins was going to win this and i think he realised it. Dawson was pumped up, maybe a little too pumped up. I dont agree with what he did, however Hopkins as that style of throwing the right hand and then jumping onto u, and Dawson didnt wanna take that ****. Hopkins has a history of pulling stunts like this.....im afraid i dont believe it was legit. And i like and respect Hops. At the end, one guy came to fight, the other didnt
We can never know if Hopkins was faking it or not, but you cannot lift a fighter off of their feet and shove forward while reaching around their legs, even if for a second. It is illegal.
A self induced injury is rightly called a tko I believe. He did dive on chad's back and it was self induced. No idea if he was faking or not and it doesn't really matter to me. Chad looked a step ahead and looked well in control so he'd have very likely took it on points. Nard has his legacy nailed now, in his own mind, as a great 40+ fighter who beat everyone until injury forced him out. I think he'll retire from the injury now. At the very very worst you'd conclude hopkins quit, which at his age does nothing to detract from his legacy. At the very best you'd conclude he lost by injury which does nothing to detract from his legacy. All in all we're left with a change of guard: end of the road for nard whilst chad steps in to fill the void. Here's hoping for chad - pascal 2!
Technically Chad fouled him and if that caused an injury then it should technically be a DQ. Here it is anyway [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wON-M1f1gTk[/ame]
No Foul, 1 second reaction as Dawson was trying to stand up with a man suddenly on his back - Hopkins wanted a DQ!
You'd call that a foul? All chad did, imo, was try to stand up. B-hop was on his back. Nc, dq, tko either way hopkins is done for now I believe. Time has finally caught up with him. His legacy neither suffered nor improved tonight. Chad did enough to convince people he'd have pulled it off. Time to move on now imo.
I think the one that Cotto pulled on Clottey was also marginally worse. But that isn't really the point to me...i'm not calling for a DQ or anything I just want to wait before I start labelling him a ***** etc., becuase 1) He claims he told the referee he wanted to continue 2) We don't know what his injury is like at this point
