Im reading a lot of crazy **** from people who dont really understand the shoulder, I will give an explanation. I am an orthopaedic surgeon. The shoulder consists of a few bones 1) Humerus- Arm bone 2) Scapula - wing bone at back which has the acromium and glenoid. The glenoid is where the humerus joins to and the acromium is where the clavicle joins to. 3) clavicle (collarbone) joins to the acromium This content is protected So essentially there are 2 joints- there are therefore 2 types of dislocations 1) Glenohumeral joint dislocation- which is the standard "shoulder" dislocation- this is what danny williams had. Usually they are obvious just on sight. I would say there is no way Hopkins had that looking at him. If a fighter has a dislocated shoulder, it requires amazing courage and strength to continue. I would say the fight should be stopped. This content is protected This content is protected 2) Acromioclavicular joint dislocation- this is the other type of shoulder joint dislocation. There are 5 ways to classify this dislocation, from very mild to very severe. A mild one is nothing really to worry about and a grade 5 one needs surgery. This content is protected Bhops doctor is claming he had an ACJ dislocation not a shoulder dislocation.
So the latter, correct? It seems regardless of the classification, it was severe enough Hopkins couldn't continue. Say what you want about Hopkins, the man cares about his legacy and trains for 12 full rounds and cares about winning more than anything. He would not simply quit.
either way BHOP hurt himself with all the flopping around, the TKO was fully warranted. There was no body slam.
Exactly. He cares about winning. Even if it's by DQ, with him having to sell the severity of an injury with a little playacting. Too bad the plan backfired.
He's never faked being unable to continue before. He's taken breaks, but Hopkins wasn't planning on making history with a DQ, I'm sure of it. Even if he had, I bet he would have given him a rematch- something Dawson is curiously disgusted by.
i agree, im not saying hes faking it or now. im just saying people are saying the couldnt see a dislocation and it didnt look like danny williams etc. well thats because it wasnt a glenohumeral joint dislocation, it was an ACJ (2nd one) no one apart from hopkins would know
I see your point, and appreciate your input. We can't really know as fans. Though I think it's only objective to say that this speculation of catastrophe could all have been avoided had Dawson not unnecessarily reached behind Bernard's legs as he shoved him off. There's no place for that in a clinch during a clean professional boxing match.
I have had three bad shoulder injuries with one from my elbow hitting the pavement. I have a ACJ bump but they also diagnosed me with an injection of blue dye but GBP and HBO could still come up with fake scans like the promoters they are.
