I was rooting for Bellew, but I had Cleverly winning by two rounds. Brave showing by Bellew, but the body shots and low blows slowed him down, unfortunately.
I too had it a draw. Bellew won 3 of the first 4. Lost 5 , 6, 11 and 12 clearly. 7 to 10 were close. But I liked Bellews jabbing , he landed some nice shots, took some too. But if the judges scored these close rounds for Cleverly the cards would be wide. That does not mean it was not a close fight . Full respect to both guys. Tony you may feel down for a while, but you should feel proud.
you know what, I scored it for Bellew or I think maybe a draw, but it's weird, I think Cleverley regardless, which sounds stupid, but what I mean is I reckon if I watch it again I'd score it for Cleverley, and I he is the better fighter. Tony Bellew is the epitome of a fighter though and I want to give him credit on his effort, which was tremendous, he didn't let one of us down. Unlucky my friend.
Bellew looked much more world class i thought. Excellent jabbing but out hustled by the busier clev. Scored it a draw but close fight wouldnt have been unhappy with it either way.
I am a massive Bellew fan and wanted him to win so bad but would have been dissapointed had that not been awarded to Cleverly. I would rather my man win fairly. It did not matter that Bellew lost as he has proven he is a world class fighter. At the end of the day he was beaten on Stamina and not boxing skills. Bellew will get another chance. This is his first real hard 12 rounder and he will get fitter. In 2 years time Bellew will be the top man in Light-Heavyweight division.
I watched it again this morning and still feel that Bellew just edged it....his actual boxing ability surprised me. I thought that going into the ninth he needed to win one round to take it...he did that IMO in the 10th. Close fight so no question of a robbery its just how judges see fights...Uncle Dave is a disgrace though and needs to be put out to grass now. Good to see both fighters giving each other dues after the fight and in the post fight presser.
Yep i felt same mate i really didn't expect his jab to be so consistent and pin point as well his defensive work early. Smart plan from his coaches as well BTW. I felt he took the championship rounds IIRC 9,10 and 11 and lost the 12th but done enough to get the nod. As you say no robbery but that bent **** had his scorecard in before the fight started. Might as well been 120-108.
Scored it 115-113 Cleverly, but some of the rounds were razor close. Would not argue with any 115/114/113 combo for either guy. It's not often that I want to hear a draw announced at the end of the fight, but I did with this one.
I completely disagree, Bellew looked the better fighter. He actually won rounds with his jab, there were 3 rounds he completely dominated and outboxed Cleverley in. Cleverley did not outbox Bellew in a single round, he outhustled him in quite a few. Bellew threw the tighter more damaging blows throughout also. Also I think its worth nothing how ineffective Clev's jab was. It was actually awful, had no extension or pop on it. Bellew's was miles better.
I had Bellew by 1 point. I thought at worst Tony would get a draw but close close fight Much respect to both fighters
