for the past several fights we have an influx of wrestling moves to facilitate the "growth" of boxing.

1. mares going for the nutkill several times and the ref seemingly ignoring that it was happening.
2. ortiz using his head to pressure floyd unto the ropes.
3. floyd using his elbow and suckerpunching ortiz for the KO.
4. bhop and his usual antics when things are not going his way.
5. dawson doing a goldberg move, charging with his shoulder and slamming bhop on the ground.

 

I agree. They're going to want to see this.

I don't know if Dawson has wrestling background or not, but both the moves (Slamming Hopping Hopkins and the gif) seem like something that is in his backbone and something he has not totally gotten rid of during boxing training. Grabbing a leg to throw an opponent jumping on you is the most natural move for a wrestler in that kind of position and if he's got a strong wrestling background it would explain a lot since those moves really are in the backbone and not doing something you have made an automation of is not that easy in a combat situation.

I think the obvious difference is that Dawson got tagged and hurt by Pascal and was holding on, while against Hopkins he'd just dodged a punch and Hopkins was the one who initiated the grapple (then got tossed).

But it's still an interesting find.
