A move up to Cruiser? Stay at LHW and Fwank to get him a shot/eliminator at a belt? Clear up the domestic scene?
Cruiser is a very weak division and he could be king pin domestically by beating Norton and within 3 fights of that a world shot.
Would a Hopkins fight in Wales be totally out of the question? I think they may get a decent crowd. It would be a big draw over here and I'm not sure how much more of Bernard the States will put up with. I doubt he'll rematch Dawson and where else does he go. Just an idea. They may well see Hopkins as there for the taking now too. Having said that, in my eyes he's still a big risk and I'd have him beating Cleverly.
I think he should stay at light-heavy. Would love him to be put in with Senchenko for the WBA strap but Cleverly wants that fight. If not then why not fight for the European or someone world ranked to move up the rankings and towards some better paydays, nothing to prove at domestic level, he's beyond that and it's clear that he fights better when he's fighting better fighters.
I'd like to see Bellew challenge for the European LHW title next, and after a couple of defences of that along with his British and Commonwealth crowns he should be able to position himself for another shot at a world title. I'd also like to see a re-match with Cleverly, maybe once Bomber has a belt as well, this could be a world class domestic rivalry akin to Benn and Eubank. It's not a problem for me that he's lost a fight, fans these days seem absolutely obsessed with fighters keeping their "0's" I think if a fighter gets to the end of a world class career with a few in the L column it shows they've been prepared to step up to the next level and prove themselves and that's how fighters improve. Bellew can obviously make the move to CW at some point so he's got a real chance of becoming a two-weight world champion in the future...
His stock has risen, it's questionable whether either fighter from last night would be good enough to be defeat Dawson or Cloud. Obviously there's the Kazak guy but Clev will get the first go on that one. Move up to Cruiser, a weak division historically and currently. Fight someone like Afolabi after cleaning up the drastically poor domestic Crusier's. He could be a multiple belt holder in my view.
Bellew needs to stay at Light Heavy. After seeing last night that was the right division for him. His lack of big time fight experience against quality opponents let him down last night and he will benefit from last night big time. He was closer in the fight than De Gale was against Groves, so he should get a big fight quickly and I would expect him to win. The best thing that has happened to Tony is BoxNation. Frank his now getting his fighters fights on a regular basis whereas before he would have stagnated on the shelf.
Move to Hollywood and pick up where Yul Bryner left off? Alternatively, fight for EBU light heavy title, defend against solid euro competition, fighting out of Echo Arena therefore making a good wedge with all the support he'll get (he's made plenty of new fans after last night), hopefully learning to control his pace/boxing in the process (I felt he switched off at times last night). Those EBU defences will move him up rankings and then fight for a world title depending on the lay of the land at that point in time (early to mid 2013ish). Rematch and beat Cleverly. Acknowledge my matchmaking brilliance in his post fight interview.
