Too many negatives on that main event being talked about so I thought I'd make a thread on this fight.

This was a great fight (well, towards the end). Honestly gutted that Linares lost and I just checked the scorecards and they were...

    98-92
    99-91
    98-92

ALL to Linares!! Guy could have had it in the bag but that blood was crazy when he sat on the seat. He was pouring. Honestly think the guy is still a major major talent. His speed, his reflexes and his balance was amazing. I was shocked at how well he'd put his punches together at one point but at the end that blood just got the better of him.

I'd cry for a rematch. What did you think?

The way he turns his head to roll with punches reminds me of a ******ed person noshing on their own shoulder.

    Excellent fight though.

No definition, he is a very flashy fighter and I imagine that's what has fooled you.

It's not a new thing, he's never been defensively apt.

Better than Khan, imo! His balance, footwork and reflexes* makes Khan's look like dog ****, and you know how big I am on Khan!

I see talent. He lost, yeah, but the talent in what he does is there. How can you disagree?

Linares courage was admirable but sadly he couldn't hold on.

Maybe so. I will watch it and then see if I'm wrong.

He seemed to wilt rather easily. He hadn't been hurt prior to the 11th, so it was sort of surprising seeing him broken down so quickly from the position he was in. He got taken down a notch by a lesser fighter in Demarco, so I can't see Jorge going very far to be honest.

Laz, don't download the HBO telecast, the commentary is - and I'm not exaggerating - among the worst I've ever heard.

****ing Hell, you really haven't got a clue mate.

How can I disagree? In lots and lots of ways but it really wouldn't be fair on you to be honest mate. You're so wrong I don't even know where to start.

How many of Linares' fights have you seen? How many years have you been following him?

Again, maybe my standards are too high, maybe Laz's are too low, but Linares has always been all hype and I wasn't totally surprised he lost last night. He us not levels above DeMarco, and he has never proved himself an Elite-level fighter over three weight classes.

Check the other Linares thread, can't be arsed to re-hash my thoughts on the fight itself. But Linares will never amount to much despite being able to call himself a 'two-weight world champion' :patsch :-(

I made this post earlier. I stick by it.

He's not special in any capacity, never has been. I also struggle to see how HBO's commentary could've been any worse than BoxNation's. It has to be catastrophic to beat the shite Colonel Bob was churning out.
