Laughable? What the **** is wrong with you? Even if you think it's a weak era, how can you say "laughable"? They were boxing in the same sport as Sugar Ray Robinson, Henry Armstrong, Charley Burely, Kid Gavilan, Ezzard Charles, Archie Moore, Willie Pep, their peers...writing this off as a weak era is wrong, but lucid, at least. You just seem like a drunk inmate that's landed an office job the way you talk about the 1940's.

could you watch a Buddy Baer fight and honestly tell me that he would be today as competitive as he was back in his day?..honestly could you?

Sure he might have been decent not even great in his time but compared with today HW's he looks amateurish to say the least
I'm tired of the rosed tinted senile old farts going around in the classic forum on how fighters from 100 years ago would school today champions without taking in consideration obvious things such as evolution.
Evolution is a fact and athletes from every sport had become better, bigger, stronger with years including boxing.

Joe Louis was great in his time, but that doesn't mean that he would be great in this era or Tyson's era or Lewis era or Ali's era

What, a HW contender that never makes it to the very top? Of course I could, I consider it inarguable. I don't think he's any worse than Sam Peter, who might or might not beat him, but he's DEFINITELY not worse than Sosnowski or Kevin Johnson and he is unquestionably twice the athlete of someone like Briggs or Solis, all of who have challenged for a HW title in recent times...the HW division, outside of brief spells in the 70's and 90's, has always been the lame duck of the sport.

You could substitute Baer for Peter or Toney and he would be absolutely in that fight. On the other hand, he would get beaten badly by Witherspoon or Holmes - most HW contender types would. But you make out like these HW's are somehow worse, like the HW division has evolved, when in all likelyhood it has regressed. Wlad and Vitali are extraordinary, the rest of the division is made up of fat-*******s and blown up cruisers, guys who are in no way inherently superior to guys like Buddy Baer, who is a contender type just like Arreola or Haye. Arreola MIGHT beat Baer, or he might not, but they are in the same type of class.

Evolution? Is that a joke? Yeah HW's have become bigger, some of them can't even complete 6 rounds without ****ing gassing. The HW division now has a smaller talent pool of bigger fighters who BOX LESS, SPAR LESS and have more money, all facts that tend to make fighters less good, not more.

I'm not saying past era's are better, but they are certainly not worse, based upon film or facts. Writing them off as such is lazy. If you struggle with the HW's, just look at the film of the lower divisions. If you can't see that Robinson, Pep, Gavilan, Burley etc. are as good as anyone around today apart from maybe, arguably the very best is ridiculous.

    Same with the HW's.

Why? At his best he weighed between 199 and 208. That's a HW if he weighs in in his robe, and if you feel the need, tack 10lbs on there, or more likely 30 if he folllows a modern HW's eating plan.

Louis would beat Waldo early & Vitlay late

One short, sweet combination & that would be it

Joe is on another level to the Klits, not a hater just a realist

Louis was the best HW of all time outside of Muhammad Ali (some say he IS the best ever) the fact he weighed 200 lbs is not a disadvantage, with Louis power/speed combination & his accuracy its an advantage vs bigger guys, his speed enables him to beat them to the punch & once Louis hits you he hurts you & if you don`t get sparked by the 1 shot he will follow up & finish you as he was 1 of the best finishers in the history of the sport.

These modern HWs would be completely out of their league vs a fighter of Louis ability, 200 lbs is NOT a small man, especially when you are 1 of the best p4p fighters to ever live... people should learn more about a legend before discrediting & disrespecting him by saying he would lose to fkn David Haye, thats blasphemy.

I would make Louis a favourite over any fighter who has been in the Ring since Lewis retired, except Vitali.

    And Louis-Vitali would be a 50-50 proposition.

but would he be able to land anything on Wlad?
If Haye who's much mobile and faster couldn't do it then what makes you think that a sitting duck like Louis would?

the klits are world apart from anything that Louis ever fought.
Sure Primo was comparable in size with them but Primo didn't move around like a cruiserweight, Primo didn't had fast hands, Primo didn't had great reflexes and sure as **** Primo wasn't as technical as either Klits.

As i said before i don't take anything away from Louis he was marvelous but he was marvelous in his time.
It's like taking a dominant Babe Ruth from the 20's and expecting him to do the same in todays baseball
