the legacy of Bernard Hopkins took a hit against Dawson. Now it's hard to judge the significance of the hit because so many idiots are blowing it out of proportion. Firstly, I will say Hopkins went out like a *****. I will also acknowledge that it's easy for me to say, as I'm not the 46 year old fighting a champ in his prime and getting slammed. And x-rays did reveal a separated shoulder. That said, I do not doubt his toughness, as he is still fighting the best possible opposition at 46 years old. But his character, took the biggest hit. The Philly gangster and ex-con who came in with nothing and made a legend out of himself is no more. He's been getting old for a long time. He's been old for 10 years now, but he was still better, more disciplined, smarted, and hungrier than most other fighters. As he proved all those years ago against Antwun Echols, Hopkins was a fighter of rare breed. When he was slammed on his shoulder in that fight, he got up fought with one arm until his right hand got better, and then closed out the show with a knock out victory. But that was 12 years ago. Now, the Philly gangster mentality is gone. Hopkins is an old man. But he damaged his legacy by not even attempting to get back up and fight. That's all we ask as genuine and understandable fans, is to at least try, for the sake of your fans. Hopkins saw a way out and he took it. This is not the way he should be remembered, but he brought it on himself. Good luck to Chad Dawson. I hope he runs the division and has continued success upwards.
I guess now we just sit back, and wait for 50 cent to play him in the movie. On that topic, howabout Denzell Washington to play Dewy Bozzella?
So, you acknowledge the fact that he did dislocate his shoulder, but you're still calling him a ***** for it? :huh
I don't get it, why even try with a dislocated shoulder, he surely isn't gonna win so what's the point of further damaging yourself to the point of maybe not being able to fight any longer. If anything it's Dawson's fault for pulling that MMA **** and he's the one that should be blamed not Hopkins.
He's not done. I've had the same shoulder injury he has, and it hurts and makes throwing a decent punch impossible. There is no way in hell that Hopkins threw this fight or wimped out, and all of you calling him a ***** are insulting the man and also all women at the same time. He will be back. And this comes from a non-fan.
Many people said Hopkins quit and some people said Dawson slamed Hopkins on the floor. So who should be blamed? Hopkins or Dawson? I'm so confusing now.:?
for not at least trying to put on a fight for his fans. it was a PPV. still my favorite boxer, and i still think he's an all time great. but he bitched out
Dawson is done cause we found a new inspiration in sending his ass back to his land, NH. And Hopkins will eat your brain every night until then cause I hate haters.
I don't think it's the loss so much, it's the fact that it joins up a lot of dots. Oh, he did something similar here, and here, and here, and here and here... Like in a Scooby Doo movie, the mask was finally ripped off to reveal at least part of the truth...
