Reminds me of Cotto/Clottey. Wonder how that one would have been called had Clottey not been able to fight again after the 5 min break he was given.

To me this is one of those "unlucky" accidents that happens in boxing. It's Hopkins style to lunge forward with punches. He landed on Dawson's back who it looked like for a second grapped his legs and threw him... but at a closer look he let go and used his back to push like Cotto did to Clottey. Therefore it cannot be a DQ for Dawson. And had Hopkins not been injured he could have been given the 5 minutes before he continued.

Only thing that the ref did wrong IMO is not to ask Hopkins whether he wanted to lose by TKO or continue with the injury.

Sad that it had to end this way. I personally wouldn't mind a rematch even though the fight stank.

For Chrissakes he caused a shoulder injury with his wrestling stunt and won by TKO! Can you believe it? Sickening. :-(

To me it more looks like he was looking to hanging on to anything he could grab as he was hurt. He was eating those straight rights all night.

ANYWAY, we might as well turn a page as we did with Floyd/Ortiz. Because what happened happened. Some think it was justified some dont.

Real quick I want to touch on two things

    - Malignaggi fight. Much respect from me to Paulie.... I had never seen his opponent fight before, but I think thats the kind of big, tough, unrelenting opponent that can give a mid level fighter like paulie an L if they are get cought taking a night off or took training camp easy, I think Paulie looked pretty decent actually, looked swift and like his punches had a little more zap to them too. Glad he got the W :thumpsup

    - Linares/Demarco, awesome fight. I dont much care for Demarco, but a lot of props to him for being able to wear down a physical phenom like Linares..... awesome, awesome fight.

Tackle and Bone, I'm disappointed in you fellas...only because I respect your fight picking abilities.

Dawson was always going to beat Hopkins. That second round was a microcosm of their fight, had it not been cut short.

Dawson was too fast and too slick with his combos. Hopkins had no answer.

A clear disqualification that turned out to be a TKO win for Dawson - that's all you need to care about in a fight that merely lasted minutes.

Yeah, I gave the 1st round to Dawson, but when the **** was he "always going to beat Hopkins"? :patsch Dawson is a bigger hype job than Berto ever was, I say Hopkins was always going to figure Dawson out to turn on the domination, only Chad threw Hopkins down to dislocate his shoulder before BHop, clearly a fighter making history on figuring you out as rounds progress, could get things in motion. So yeah, when you see Dawson avoiding the rematch you'll know he was always going to lose, just found a lucky way out that is likely to be overturned.

This was over before a real fight could've broken out, and it was over ON AN INTENTIONAL CHAD DAWSON FOUL FOR WHICH UNDER BOXING RULES HE SHOULD'VE BEEN DISQUALIFIED - there is no legitimate judo-to-dislocated-shoulder move in boxing, if you intentionally foul your opponent, you should get DQ'd END OF ****ING STORY. Yeah. I don't give a **** if you're disapponted in me or not. I care if you understand basic boxing rules or not.

How will your picks hold up when they are open to challenge by anyone?
The Peoples Champion is our uncrowned gladiator, it is open for anyone, no matter how many fights you have, no matter what your record looks like, whether you come to the thread a few times a day or once a month, or you have never even posted in this thread before. Be the first to challenge the Champs picks and the title is up for grabs. :good

No. You were simply wrong with your fight pick and you're mad about it for some reason (probably lost money betting on the old man) instead of learning from your mistake. Chad was on his way to a dominating win and Hopkins decided to go for the flop/DQ attempt when the opportunity presented itself. Hopkins wanted no part of Dawson for years and found his way out of the fight. Hopkins beat Pascal (a low IQ, front-runner) and everybody is all over his dick like he's the best in the division. Dawson has been the best in the division for a while now and if he shows up focused like he did last night, he beats Hopkins 10 times out of 10 in the past 3 years.

If you really believe what you're saying then you would pick Hopkins in a rematch? That would be a really dumb move, but you don't have to take my word for it. Just put some money on the line because you'll be getting some good odds this time. But remember: it doesn't matter how good the odds are if you don't win.
