For those that have not seen this fight it is on YouTube. If you are boxing fan, this is not one to be missed. A real classic. The Americans never seem to hold the British (or the European for that matter) fighters in high regard and say once they come over to the USA they will get exposed. Please check out this fight and give your honest, unbiased opinion of Britain's top two light-heavyweights.

This fight isn't a classic. LOL.

Cleverly showed he was in no way shape or form an elite fighter and that he most likely will be protected on that island fighting cans.

I suppose you have to be British to see it as a classic. The build up to the fight was the best build up I have ever seen for a fight, there was a genuine hatred between the two of them (well that is what I like to believe anyway) and this is a fight true british fight fans have been wanting to see for 2 1/2 years. And then when they finally get it on it lives up to the hype (rare), that is why I suppose I see it as a classic. Plus, Bellew is from my hometown and the fight was in my hometown so everything about it just made it feel like a classic. Saying that, a good few others have said it was a classic but who don't have the emotional connection I had.

I think that is unfair on Bellew to say Cleverly is not at the top level. I have read every news article post fight and 99% praised Bellew where as 1% said Cleverly proved he is not at the top level seen as he was in a close fight with a 'can', but I noticed these were only from American articles.

I love the way you yanks use the word cans. Over here we just call them bums. Seriously, every time I imagine an American saying the word can (in this context) it makes me laugh out loud.

Are you Tony Bellew? I'm pretty sure I've been told he posts here occasionally.

Really good fight!! Very entertaining..... But that said, neither are worldclass and Cleverly was especially disapointing as I've heard a lot of hype for him from the brits on this site and both fights I've watched he faile to impress. Cleverly loses his paper title the first time he steps up his opposition level.

I'd like to know how Dawson is going to beat Clev. he will not have the power to stop him coming forward and doesn't have a hope in he'll of out working him. I think you'll be in a for a big surprise when they get it on.

Bellew was very underrated and would easily be in the worlds top 10.

Bellew posts under the name Tony Bellew (which is shocking).

It was a very very good fight, not a classic, but neither ran, both took big shots, and it was entertaining for 12 rounds. Definitely worth a watch, but Mitchell-Murray was better for me.

For what its worth, I had Bellew winning by a point

It was a very entertaining fight right enough!

Clev showed a decent chin in there but I don't think we saw the best of him as he chose to stand and trade with Bellew and that made the fight a slugfest. Despite this Clev showed some decent defence in there as well. Bellew isn't the bum Clev claimed before the fight and he is for sure going to bounce back from this!

I honestly had Bellew down as a right twat but the way he conducted himself after the fight I have nothing but respect for the guy

Ok let's start by saying well done to both fighters for an outstanding effort and a very decent (if not classic fight). No one can deny they gave it their all.

However, neither of these guys are close to elite at the moment and would definitely lose to Dawson, Hopkins, Cloud and Pacal. I used to be quite high on Cleverly and after the Murat fight I thought there might be a real gem appearing; but since then, his performances against Mohammedi, Kuziemski and Bellew have been European level at best.

Yes, I understand the guy is young, but you simply cannot rely upon you face as a defence at the top level (as seems to be the case with 99% of British fighters)!! He does have a good chin and is very fit, but that's unlikely to be enough against these guys.

Before anyone retorts with the inevitable "I'm doing Bellew a disservice" comment...I'm really not. The guy was desperately close to being destroyed by Ovill McKenzie, so he's no Archie Moore...and he's yet to beat anyone of any significance.

And to the poster who said "how does Dawson beat Cleverly, he has a chin and keeps coming forward", I'm pretty sure that's what they said about Hatton. Dawson is on a whole other level skill wise and will just pepper Cleverly with jabs and straight lefts all night. It would be an easy nights work IMO.

Once again thanks to both guys for putting on such a good fight, but there's lots of work to do to reach the level they both want to be at.

Excellent although very sloppy brawl between two B-level fighters. Cleverly's reign will be short unless Warrren can keep the top fighters away, but you can't have a bad word for the dude because he comes to fight.
