I may be stretching a bit here with "obscure", but these are some excellent fights that aren't really talked about as much as you would think. Simon Brown-Tyrone Trice 1 Vincent Pettway-Simon Brown (everyone just remembers the ending, the fight itself was great) Michael Gomez-Alex Arthur James Page-Jose Luis Lopez Micky Ward-Shea Neary (much less obscure now because of the movie) Antonio Diaz-Micky Ward Miguel Cotto-Ricardo Torres Riddick Bowe-Pierre Coetzer
The two best WW fights of the 90s IMO were Page-Lopez and Aaron Davis-Mark Breland. People don't talk about these that much when it comes to the best WW bouts of that decade. Instead what so often gets mentioned is a fight like DLH-Quartey, which had 2 good rounds out of 12. Simon Brown-Maurice Blocker was another very good WW fight. Brown was in some real good fights. The first Trice fight was the 2nd best WW fight of the 80s IMO, behind Duran-Leonard 1 and ahead of Leonard-Hearns 1. I felt that the Blocker fight was the third best 90s WW fight, and the Pettway fight is behind only Trinidad-Vargas and maybe DLH-Vargas among 154 lb. title fights.
In recent times this has turned into a not so obscure fight. Still a classic. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LSRBfgfreiw[/ame]
