    the sport of boxing,my sport,your sport has gone down the toilet.im a boxing fan through and through but with bull**** like hopkins/dawson saturday it makes me want to stop watching it alltogether.im a boxing fan before anything,before im a pac-man fan,before im a mayweather hater,before anything im all about the sport of boxing. boxing has gone into the darkest days ever,these fights are trash.its no wonder that boxing is the worst rated sport out there even below horse racing.look back on the past recent fights,pac vs mosley,mayweather vs ortiz,bradley vs alexander etc.all these fights ended in dissapointment and were big let downs.what do you think boxing needs to do to keep it self relevant and keep mma fron stealing what little fans it has left.

    boxing at the elite level really is falling off

    plus I've noticed it's way too easy to fight not so great competition at the PPV/elite level

    promote real fights and fighters who come to fight like bad chad dawson. the biggest difference is in mma they come to fight, because of the way its run. ko,submission and fight of the night bonuses ect. plus you can lose a couple and still make money. The business model is the complete opposite in boxing and as a result, fewer and fewer fighters really come to fight and respect the essence of boxing less and less. These "fighters" whining for rematches makes me sick when they made a lot of money the first time and chose to ***** out instead of fight. Im with you dude.

    Just rewatched cleverly vs bellew from the weekend, and mate your nuts, that was a classic fight just ****ing awesome, dying my arse, maybe in parts of the world where it used to be bigger, but in some places such as the uk its doing fine thanks

    The only thing I think fans can really do is to stop supporting lousy fights.

    Don't buy PPVs that are mismatches, don't believe the hype of how the mismatch is a real 50/50 fight.

    Buying them just enables the powers that be to keep ****ing us.

    As far as fights like Bradley-Alexander being disappointing, well good matchups don't always produce fireworks. Look at fights like Spinks-Qawi or Trinidad-DLH.

    That will always happen regardless of the era, but at least in these cases, the meaningful bouts took place.

    I like that so many boxing fans are concerned about boxings state of affairs, but I have to say that I think too many people are going overboard in how much this fight has effected boxing lol... this is a small, small blip on the screen. The sport is as healthy as its been in the last 10 years. Theres plenty of great fights happening, good matchups, and big numbers being registered.

    Do we have some major, major issues concerning the best fighting the best? Yes... that is the biggest problem, but besides that the sport is doing fine.

    As for dissapointing results.... let me say this, fights like Mayweather vs Baldomir and JMM, slowed the sport more then Mayweather vs Ortiz. I dont see May vs Ortiz as a bad eye for boxing in the slightest, people leave boring fights talking this n that about boxing and how they wont watch another xxxxx persons fight. People left Mayweather ortiz excited and worked up, talking for days on end about it, and will be tuning in for the next fight.

    Dawson vs Hopkins was a blemish, no doubt about it, but really its getting pretty overblown. **** happens.... boxing moves on. Boxing has a long history of bad nights, the sport survives. And people keep saying this gives mma an edge. Fact is nights like last night dont do boxing any favors, but reality is mma has plenty of stinkers too.... it happens in the fight game. Whats hurting boxing in boxing vs mma if one wants to look at it in that light isnt a few bad nights a year.... its a lot of other stuff.

    Pac vs May not happening is the worst thing in boxing at the moment... but honestly, the sport is bigger then them as well, as hard as that is to believe.

    Im not going to say boxing is 'fine', because Ive been an advocate for a long time on boxings state and wanting it to keep gaining ground, but right now Ill say that I think people are overreacting a bit to the May/Ortiz Dawson/Hops fights.... boxing is in as good a position right now as its been for quite awhile.

    just imo though.

    No offense but clowns like you seem to love sad situations in boxing, we could have over 10 great PPV events without a single discussion claiming the sport is doing great, yet one bad event comes by and the sport is dead. And it seems people love to mourn anything they could find which is possibly an indirect sign that could possibly represent their own sad state in life.

    The sport is doing great, one bad/controversial event doesn't represent boxing. We're moving on and we have a lot of great fights to come and more to follow. The sport always moves on, don't worry about it dying because it surely will outlive both of us as it already did MANY other skeptical fans.

    We've always had to deal with rubbish, but it feels more concentrated than ever. Haye/Wlad, the first heavyweight match in years to genuinely interest me turns out to be a farce, and the superfight between Pac and Floyd that most people have wanted since late 2008 has simply refused to materialise. We're now heading into 2012 and there still isn't any kind of sign that Pac-Mayweather is going to be made. It's...well, pathetic, really. No other word for it. If it ever DOES happen, it'll probably be when both men have significantly declined, as they're already in their thirties. We may never know what would have happened between these guys when they were close to their primes, and that's a massive shame. Floyd, meanwhile, is busy suckerpunching guys who don't even belong in the ring with him.

    Then we have Mares winning a championship by landing countless low blows, where the referee seems to be actively supporting his illegal actions, and Hopkins losing by TKO due to a push to the canvas. It's almost turning into a comedy.

    Pay per views suck ass !! NO fights of signifigance any more,the heavies are in the toilet ..I feel like this is a bad sports franchise going through a losing season with the hope of good future draft picks to get us out this mess !:-(
