Hopkins didnt go down from a punch, he went down from a throw. It should be a "No Decision" as it was before the 4th round as Harold Letterman said.

Theres a reason the commission escorted the ref out and wouldnt let Max and his microphone near him.

Solis v Vitali. I realise that was a vitali "glove punch knee buster" but that falls into the same category surely?

But yes. I agree with you I suppose. There is a fine line there though, and at what point is it unfair on the other guy?

This fight certainly is one that seems very very strange to be recorded as a TKO.

Yes you can...how was Vitali beaten by Byrd, did Byrd hit him in the shoulder causing him to lose? What about if a guy out of exhaustion can't answer the bell for a round? What if he trips walking to the corner, blows out his knee, and can't answer the bell...He's going to quit that's what, and it will be ruled a TKO. Hopkins quit, he wasn't fouled deliberately or accidentally, he was "injured" and quit...period.

Vitali injured himself in the act of legal boxing and could not continue. He was not fouled or thrown to the canvas, WHICH IS ILLEGAL!!!!!!:deal

To me, if you cant continue, as long as its not from an illegal punch, elbow, ect, then its ruled a tko.

Saying a fight goes to a NC just because a fighter cant continue on some obscure injury gives waaaaaay too many outs to an overmatched opponent to take. It keeps opponents from doing exactly what many (not really myself) think hopkins did.

Anyone remember the Valuev vs McCline fight?

McCline hurts his knee early on and couldnt continue... they didnt just say its a NC... no, it becomes a RTD victory for the other fighter.

    This isnt new.

i don't agree. Solis would have never wobbled and fell if he never got hit. Punch=fall=hurt knee.

    Thrown to the canvas?

Hopkins was thrown OFF of Dawson... why? Because he was lunging, leaning, and trying to push Dawson down, like he always does.

Great mentality for a fighter to have eh... if your opponent keeps mauling you, grabbing you, pushing you down... dont do anything about it, no... just let it happen and wait for the ref

that would be correct with couple amendments:
    - opponent actions caused the injury
    - the injury was caused by means other than a clean punch

If a fighter cant continue, unless its from an illegal blow, its a RTD victory for other boxer.

Jefferson/Maskaev also. Same ****, well sorta.

I can't believe anyone is actually thinking it should be overturned. The Mayweather debacle was worse if you ask me.

I agree. They will overturn the outcome to a NC. These refs are ****in up!
