Who is the next HW savior?

If Kimbo did do well and build himself to a title shot a lot of casual fans would definitely tune in. Unfortunately for Kimbo though he doesn't seem to take a great punch and will probably get starched by someone like Arreola or Helenius on his way to try for a title shot.

 

Szpilka, Glazkov, Boytsov are all good and the most exciting to watch of the current HW bunch IMO. Counting on them to save the division.

When K2 retires I assume all 4 belts fall in 4 different hands who wont unify unless all 4 fall under the same promotional banner

nobody in the current picture seems capable of beating either bro and none seem head and shoulders above all else

remember prior to wlad brewster 2 when they interviewed don king and he talked about a tournament

he said that he had control over WBC Rahman or Peter cant remember, WBO Briggs, WBA Ruiz/Valuev, and Wlad was defending his IBF vs Brewster

he said Brewster was gonna win and hed have the whole picture to unify

this was of course spoiled very quickly but i think its what it takes to unify all 4, promotional cooperation

 

Why would Arreola or Helenius fight ****ing Kimbo?

He'll get knocked out by the first half-decent journeyman he fights, never mind by top 10 guys he'll never get to meet.

 

It doesn't need rescuing. What it needs is a title chalanger who can LEGITIMATELY last rounds against either K-bro.

By legitimate I mean be able to go the distance and try to win. So far, the closest we had to that was Tony Tompson vs Wlad. Haye didn't do it legitimately because he didn't try to win, he tried to take minimal damage while running the entire fight and hoping for a lucky shot.

Vitali hasn't had a chalanger legitimately lasting since Lennox Lewis. He CARRIED the two Polish Bravehearts and shattered the Cuban no hopers.

 

I was thinking someone with a half decent name in the division would probably want to cash in on Kimbo's name and fight him.

 

It would be better without the Klitschkos. People wouldn't be that excited about the NFL if one team won the Superbowl every year.

 

That is stretching it man. Kimbo couldn't get past Andy Ruiz Jr. or even a guy like Paulo Vidoz. He'll never make it to the contenders.

Kimbo has 1 shot to go big with boxing. That is to face Bobby Gunn in a Bare Knuckles PPV match. Everything else is wasting his time.

 

Even if you're right, what the hell do you do about it? Prevent the brothers from going to the gym every day? Prevent them from showing the discipline many modern boxers lack? The next "HW savior" (used loosely and in context because I think it's the queerest phrase to be coined) will be the one who gets his fat lazy ass in the gym and shows some dedication to the line of work he has decided to make a career in.

 

The first time Hari gets rocked, he is going to go upside someone's head with a kick. Assuming he is not on his back. Why people are even mentioning guys like him and Kevin Fergusson are a mystery to me. Probably playing the "excitement" card.

There is a nice crop of superheavy's that will turn pro after London next year. There are even a couple guys at heavyweight (201) that could easily turn into excellent pro heavyweights. 5+ years from now the division will have a bunch of competitive fights and interesting match ups that should entertain the fans.

None of these huys are Black American's so most people will probably still ***** and moan about the division...

 

Badr Hari has a glass jaw.

Uncoordinated hands.

Gohkan Saki would be a better boxer.

Better chin, faster hands, more compact punches--better technique altogether. Doesn't get knocked out as often

I think David Price has a shot at being something special imo. Fury and Helenius both will be stiff challenges for him though.

Savior? I don't see anyone saving the division right now but if Arreola stays in shape he could make some noise.
