Are you honestly saying that a one punch KO in favor of Pacquiao over Mayweather doesn't do much for his legacy?

Sound reasoning, p. Do you think fans, in general, will concur?

What fans do you refer to? ESB?

If you are referring to ESB, nope!!! Nada!!!! Just bunch of nuthuggers so you don't expect any sane argument or reasoning.

Reasonable boxing fans will. Besides if we base it on history, people look at fighters or personalities of yesteryears with more forgiving outlook.

Even Muhammad Ali in his heyday was not universally adored and liked. Infact, even Nelson Mandela had his detractors.

Immediately postfight, their reputations would surely get hit. But in the long run, history will look at them in a kinder and more open -minded light.

a KO loss of Floyd from Martinez at 156 wouldn't be as bad as a KO loss from Pac at 147. Floyd would also get more credit for beating sergio at 156 than Pac at 147.

Absolutely, I thought we were referring to how history would remember them.

Pac getting starched with a one punch KO by Mayweather would be devastating

the flip side not as much.

Pac is a one punch KO guy. If you get KTFO by PAc it's like "Well Pac is Pac."

Mayweather is not. If you get KTFO by Floyd it's like "Damn man, really?"

We're talking 1 punch KO here.

I think Manny's fans would be more upset with the loss than PBF's fans. Most PBF fans aren't fans of just Floyd or things that revolve around Floyd, that's not the case for a significant chunk of Manny's fan base, not implying that's good or bad...it just is.

Posted this on another thread, Z, but think it addresses your question:

There wasn't any shot -- from any angle -- Pac wasn't landing. Pac held-off several times while both sparring partners hadta take breathers from head 'n body shots. His sparring partners weren't pliant heavy bags. They were solid, ernest, savvy 'n brought it every second.

Pac was doin' it all, attacking, countering, circling, fighting off 'n sliding off the ropes, 'n landing fusilades with laser precision.

Pac's mitt drills with Freddie are very different from the usual drill-team variety, throwing ear-splitting combos, by the numbers.

Freddie holds the pads next to his face, with just enough room for a punch ta get through, and crowds 'n cuts the ring off on Manny, forcing him ta think on his feet 'n let his hands go...'n does he ever, like a rocket launcher.

Are we talking like a Tyson-Spinks first round blowout, or let's say Pacquiao's unorthodox tactics confuse Floyd for three and half-rounds, and all of sudden Mayweather lands a giant right hand ala Jackson-Graham? The former would be a disaster, and the latter wouldn't be too bad (except a bunch of general forum posters yelling "Glass Jaw")

Everyone has invested so much hate into Floyd saying he is coward, ducker, scared of Pac....If Pac beats him, its kind of Okay cuz They think Pac will beat him anyways since they think he's scared of Pac...and they will say, Floyd finally lost and got what was coming to him...If Floyd beats Pac, it will be DEVESTATING...Because Floyd will be shutting up everyone...and by EVERYONE...I mean EVERYONE...MILLIONS have turned on Floyd..I actually believe Pac has pressure to beat Floyd easily...If floyd beats Pac, it will shock the world...the casual fans...Pac's rabid fanbase...I believe It will CHANGE the world and people in the phillipines will have a suicide rate unlike anthing in the HISTORY of the universe!
