I'd put him just about on par with Calzaghe if he beats Ward (which I don't think he will). Then we'd have to see what happened in his next few fights to determine who really has the better resume.
Ward is a good fighter, but at this point in time, he does not compare to Jones, Hopkins, Lacy(at the time), etc.
So Ward right now does not compare to a shot to **** '08 Jones or an overhyped never-was like Lacy?! Sober up, you're embarrassing yourself.
I'm only saying the book is not yet written on Ward, and to a certain extent, Froch. Ward is still relatively young. If Ward beats Froch, does that mean he's(Ward) better than Calzaghe? Suppose Froch beats Ward, but gets demolished later by, say, Bute? Either one could win this fight, but go forward to have disappointing losses and when the story is over, both may never be mentioned in the same breath with Calzaghe.
All of which has nothing to do with your ridiculous comment about how a 27 year old, 24-0 Andre Ward doesn't even compare with an overhyped, undertalented mediocrity like Lacy or the shot-to-smithereens fossilized remains of Roy Jones, a guy who'd been getting iced by Tarver and Johnson years before Joe C even got to him. Appalling.
this.and after beating ward still not even close cause we all know ward is just a fraud.maybe if he ktfo ward in less than 3 rounds.
Exactly why I'm not discounting that it may happen. Froch has incredible will in finding a way to win. Who knows. imo Froch is one of the most exciting fighters atm because what he lacks in skills he more than makes up for it in heart and determination, and is never in a dull fight. So who knows, I hope he goes on to suprise us all. Also he's a real friendly bloke.
my answer is yes Calzaghe obviously has a great record, albeit 85% procured by local/club fighting.... his resume is lackluster comparable to the available competition now. So whatever the case, whether he specifically cherry-picked or ducked, there's only a few notable fighters on his resume. The Super 6 tournament has served as a great resume booster for those who won more than lost, to include Froch. This tournament itself is rather prestigious in its own right, and shouldnt be easily forgotten in boxing history. Just think, originally 2 champions belts and 4 current/previous champions entered. 4 fighters with undefeated records entered. 2 bluechip american contenders. This is a phenomenal amount of talented fighters forced and pitted against each other. If Froch appeared at the top of this heap, to include his previous fights, it should equate to a more substantial resume compared to Calzaghe's. Just for the record, i have Ward winning a decision, and it may be a very close one. This is the most dangerous fight for BOTH fighters to date - it could almost go either way. The only more dangerous fight for either would be Lucian Bute...
