Would it have been braver of Hopkins to throw his belt in the garbage rather than fight Dawson.

Well Ali stayed sat on his stool when the going got tough for him and he was 8 years younger than Hopkins
Holyfield quit against Toney a much younger age than Bernard.

To call Hopkins a coward is ridiculous [especially from someone regards Bowe as brave]

If you look at every boxer that ever fought Hopkins would be better and braver than 95% of them does that mean 95% of boxers are cowards?

HE didn't do anything wrong against Echols and didn't really buy time, that fight showed heart if anything. The Allen fight I'm not sure about. Calzaghe and Jones, yes outright cheating/faking, maybe mainly to buy time or trying to get points docked

I think with that type of injury it's more whether it twists more than it just landing hard, old men get injured easier too. I'm not sure, I certainly won't rule out faking

Is it true that he was obliged to fight Dawson? If so that makes sense as I thought he was ducking Dawson because of the speed/movement and stylistically didn't fancy it and may have been looking for the first opportunity to look for a DQ to get a win. HE certainly won't have been scared about taking a beating, because that wasn't going to happen

whose calling him a coward? Bowe showed ten times the balls that Hopkins has. Can you imagine how Bernard would have reacted getting his balls teed off on. He would rolled around on the floor and refused to continue from the first shot.
As for Hopkins I dont think hes a coward, I just think hes full of foul play, but when the tables are turned he reacts like a baby. Many of opponents could have fallen to the floor and rolled around when Hopkins was charlie horsing them in every clinch.

Allen and Echols in the rematch did flop around like fishes against him.

Yes they did. Doesnt really matter though. Its when Hopkins was in a certain state of mind that these type of things came out.

Bernard loves to dish it out, but he hates getting it in return. Not talking about punches; he's proven his chin is very solid, but bullying tactics and fighting dirty. It's like a little kid who will pick on a smaller classmates relentlessly, but when somebody finally pushes him back, he runs and cries to the teacher. Hopkins is a tough person. He wouldn't have gotten this far without being extremely tough. But his in-the-ring behavior is more than questionable at times and definitely doesn't do him any favors in the way he's perceived. I think his displays of toughness when in trouble against Pascal will end up being the last hurrah. I don't think he wants to go to the well anymore.

Pretty much how I feel about the guy. Im not a Hopkins hater, but I do think its pretty amazing how he has acted when fouled, when hes a big fouler himself.

Hopkins is a ****in' badass regardless. There have been some dodgy instances in his career and he does have a bitchy trait which I don't particularly care for, but the plus points far outweigh this for me.

He's extremely manipulative, and that's only been highlighted in the past few years as he's felt he's had to rely on that at times. He wouldn't still be fighting into his late 40's if he was a coward, and he damn sure wouldn't be doing it against top flight competition. He would have stayed down from either one of the knock downs against Pascal the first time around. He would have quit and just kept his titles the first time he suffered a shoulder injury against Echols, but instead he fought on and beat the **** out of his opponent. He's as dirty and manipulative as they come, but anyone calling him a coward is a ****ing moron, no way around it.

You dislike Hopkins for foul play yet you forgive Bowe for his transgressions. Bowe was pretty dirty himself. He hit Tillery after the bell and with the help of his team dragged Tillery out of the ring. Bowe also punched Mathis Jr while on the deck and was lucky not to get disqualified. Combine that with his behaviour out of the ring he's hardly Mr Clean himself.
