Calzaghe beat Kessler, Kessler beat Froch. Calzaghe beats Froch at any stage of their careers, it aint even close.
Not reading my answer is much different than my not answering. I plainly stated that I do not like RJJ or Hopkins. I cheered my ass off when Tarver KTFO RJJ. But, you don't read that. You think anybody who doesn't spend their lives manipulating boxrec to make Slappy look like a god is a biased American. We get it, you want Joe's baby and you'll use as much boxrec as it takes to get it. But, leave those of us who realize Slappy is good, not great, alone. We are obvioulsy the overwhelming majority -- not just in America but around the globe.
Should he beat: Ward, Kessler and Bute. Then he is higher than Calzaghe in SMW yes. But until then i'd have to say Calzaghe.
as long as your having that profile picture im not gonna be able to focus on the comments your posting
1. Jeff - I've been through the same kind of boxrec oriented baileyesque storm of agenda driven arguments, and to your post I say 'amen'. Two classes of haters; the trashers who will build a glass profile for a given fighter, and the naysayers who elevate the status of a given fighter to trash any and every other guy that's being discussed. Bailey is of the 2nd type obviously. 2. I think Froch gets outworked, outlanded but not necessarily rocked (depending on what age Calzaghe you put in the ring with him). Calzaghe UD, from all angles. 3. Paulie - Bute is not the #1 anything in the world. And I'm a fan. He must rack 'em top 5's in 2012, adding the S6 winner and potentially Kessler to the Johnson fight as far as his mid term schedule is concerned. Honestly, I think he could be, same time next year. He needs to face 2 of the top 4 in 2012 and win to be recognized as #1 IMO. 4. Calzaghe was very good, and it's a damn shame his resume is weak in comparison to what he could (yes could) have accomplished had he faced guys who were closer -better or worse- to Joe's skill and condition level like prime RJJ / Toney, prime Benn, prime BHop, pre-BHop Pavlik, Ward / Bute / Froch, hell 1991 Eubank, fukkin Ottke and mid-90's Collins while we're at it. Some weren't there or had left already, but not all of them i.e. he missed out on a couple of good fights (from that short list) no matter what the fukkin reason for it not happening was. Everyone has a price, ask Stieglitz.
ok i managed to read it without my eyes automacially sliding left onto that hotty in the bathtub ..i disagree ... Bute hasnt proven himself to be in the same league (still it would be interesting to watch) the most dangerous fight after this final for either fighter - is a rematch with Kessler in UK (DENMARK for WARD as it could show if he is or isnt more than a headbutting hometown hero)
Come on, that fight was so one sided Ward could have fought Kessler on the Moon and still won. Froch Vs Kessler in the UK would be interesting, though Froch would perhaps need a change of tactic. Sure, one can argue that he had no choice, but largely fighting off the back foot like that, not pressing the fight, in Kesslers backyard, really wasn't the greatest of moves. Any close rounds were automatically going to go to the home town fighter for pressing the action.
His attitude is very very different. Anyway, I think we should wait until the end of Froch's career before we get into any compare and contrast debate.
If you view headbutting a past prime Kessler into oblivion as a mark required to surpass a Hopkins or prime Kessler win that's up to you. The manner of that victory leaves a bad taste.
