ingo johannson vs ron lyle......

Thats fair. Ingo was prety mobile though and in his short prime was very accurate with a strong right hand. In my opinion ingo could keep his distance and could time a sharp right hand like ali used to stop lyle with.

I'll go with Ingo by a shade. Better power, defeated better fighters.

 

I think I pick the Super Ron Lyle of ESB to beat Ingo but I don´t think the real world on Lyle would do the same.

 

Ingo hurts Lyle, Ingo finishes Lyle. Like the Shavers fight, except Lyle doesn't make it to the bell.

Especially if this happens in Sweden, and Ingo is allowed to hit Lyle while he's down and the ref lets the punishment continue while he's clearly out on his feet.

what we need in the classic is a three way war of legends: las vegas lyle vs tokyo douglas vs "gentle" jimmy young!

these three warriors are beloved on the classic and rightfully so: their records are filled with clear losses which seems to be the main criteria for greatness as of late

I really don't think that Ingo could just stand there and trade with Lyle, the way that Ron traded with Foreman and Shavers, giving them both hell on earth. Exchanging with a 180 something pound Patterson who's chin was questionable was one thing, and still he lost two of those three. Of course anything can happen when we put two big punchers who like to trade in the same ring, but weighing out the element of probability makes me lean towards lyle.

 

Lyle did stand and trade with Shavers (successfull) and Foreman (unsuccessfully) BUT he fell apart when Muhammad Ali hit him with a sweet sharp right hand.
I think a prime Johansson would hit him a snappy right hand early and get him out of there. I'm talking about the Johansson who beat Machen and Patterson.

 

Add "the pot belly Lion Tamer" Ray Mercer, Razor "Underrated Skills" Ruddock, "The Invincible" Ike Ibeabuchi and "Prime" David Tua to the mix, you got an epic tournament. How many great Champions and fighters at their absolute best would fall to these titans?

Ingo's even lazier than Bugner at his worst, not a great fan of either but i'll go with Lyle to outwork Johannson.

 

Lyle is very similar to Ed Sanders whom Johansson fought in the Olympics. Johansson of course was disqualified in that fight for "running", although in Johansson's view he was trying to tire out the bigger man until unleashing the right hand on him.

Probably it would be a fight where Lyle chases the fleet-footed Johansson who tries to set traps. If Lyle can pressure Johansson without falling for the right hand, he should win but there is the chance that he gets blasted out especially if he tires or loses focus. Young was able to get the lead right hand in there quite easily so I wouldn't count Johansson out.

Ingo had a very hard right hand, mabey one of the hardest right hands in history, but Lyle fought the 2 hardest punchers EVER. And almost beat them both, Ingo had his power but that was it. Lyle beats him in almost every other aspect. It would be a horribly brutal slugfest. But Lyle takes the w in the end
