    for Brits WW2 started in 1938 not in 1940.

    Briton isn't an ethnicity its a nationality.

    it is both

    British nationality = anyone holding a citizenship in Briton

    British Ethnicity = anyone of English,Scottish,Welsh,North Irish, Manx Ect blood

    There is no such thing as a british ethnicity, you are getting nationality and ethnicity mixed up again and again.

    so you can say British with English ethnicity or British
    with Indian ethnicity and that is a correct form?

    so what is the correct term to describe British citizens who are
    claiming to be either English, Welsh, Scottish or Irish.
    They are coming from different 'countries' ... right?

    What is the correct form to describe them?

    is that insulting them if you call them other than British?

    You have the soccer teams from Scottland, Wales, England and N Ireland
    ... isn't that defines the 'native/historically ethnic' British nations?
