Chris Eubank is British, end of story.

    Your mask has slipped.

Chris Eubank is British and there is nothing funny about that fact or him stating what he is, British.

There's a lot of talk about ethnicity in this thread, but being black or non-white does not mean you can't be British. It's a ludicrous, racist statement.

... isn't that pure business? You can be born in Brasil and then
get UK passport and play any 'national' team you want ... it is a
standard these days and says nothing about your personal heritage.

They can play for whoever they want, or any boxer could fight for whomever he chooses to represent, but in the above example that doesn't make them ethnically English one bit.

I honestly don't understand what is so difficult to grasp with this concept.

You can't cheat your ethnicity.. which comes down to roots and genes.

i'm trying to figure out what stinky gloves is trying to get at.

it looks like he's genuinely interested in learning but when his questions are answered he puts a spin on it and then keeps going around in circles.

I have no idea of these fighters backgrounds, and quite frankly will not spend the next 20 minutes on google looking them up.

Now I finally get it. Every Black guy in the World is English, they just have to move to the U.K. so it becomes official.

I think what anyone here is really trying to say is only this :

Just because you wrap a flag around something doesn't automatically make it from there. Lennox for example may wrap a english flag around himself but he is actually Jamaican whether he likes it or not.

Ethnicity is nothing to do with your nationality.

Can you define the characteristics of this apparent 'ethnically English' group you speak of?

Also, please can you inform me as to why you think it a more important factor, the defining factor, the only factor, in deciding whether someone is English or not?

No. Every black person who lives in England is English but those who don't, are whatever nationality of the country they live in.

    I don't think I ever said it does, and if I did I mis-spoke.

But ethnicity does have a lot to do with your genetic makeup to identify a certain group. So the difference that you are arguing or trying to argue is this : teams will be country vs. country. While we are saying let the teams be ethnicity vs ethnicity.. but since you lose there, you don't like our game because you lose most of your talent. :hey
