Pacquaio is fighting Marquez at the same catchweight as Mayweather did at 144?

Cotto-pac fight
*******s - It was only 1 pound
*****s - He was drained

Marquez-floyd fight
*****s - It was only 2 lbs
*******s - He was cheated on the scales

 

A third fight is fine. But, it does not have to be at the same weight JMM and Floyd, recently, fought at. Pac can make 140. JMM would rather have had the fight at 140. It would have been more competitive there. However, we have this. Many are writing this fight off because of how JMM looked in his last fight at the same weight.


And stop with that other ****. If Floyd ran behind Pac and fought Cotto at 145lbs, Clottey, then Margarito at 150lbs, I would be calling him out on it too.

 

nah, i would have rather seen floyd fight cotto at 145, clottey and margarito at 150 than retiring, fighting jmm at 144 but he later change to 147 and ortiz. in fact, floyd-cotto back in 2008 is the biggest fight in boxing.

 

Floyd vs Cotto at the official weight would have been a terrific fight. Floyd vs Cotto at 145 lbs would've never flown with the boxing public. And he would've gotten zero credit for it. Same thing for Floyd vs Margarito at 150lbs.

Floyd vs. Clottey? I'm not sure why this is appealing.

 

Except Floyd did not fight JMM at a catchweight, and that's what was considered shameful.

The reason the fight was signed for 144 and not 147 was to give it some legitimacy. When Floyd failed to honor the catchweight that killed any legitimacy his win may have had.

Anyway, Pac will not get credit for the win, Marquez will be a blown up lightweight like you said and Pac has established himself as a strong welter [even with the CW and besides the fact Pac only rehydrates to what some lightweights do]. I don't know why Mayweather fans are so worried that he might get credit [Pac wouldn't get credit at 140 either, only at 135 which was impossible]

Pacquiao has however faced Marquez twice at his prime weights, and that can't be ignored. They have history, and this fight wouldn't be happening otherwise. It's a money fight for both, and a proper conclusion to their trilogy with Marquez this time fighting Pac at his absolute best, with nothing to lose and a final chance to prove he really does have his number.

 

taking unto consideration that pac was coming from 140 and weighed just 138 against hatton, then a 145 catchweigth against cotto makes sense. meanwhile, it would not make sense for floyd since he was already a WW since 2005/2006. but still a cotto fight is better than retiring right?

also i'm comparing the clottey fight against floyd fighting marquez at 147 and floyd fighting someone like margarito instead of ortiz.

 

Nah...I can't take that into consideration when Pac came from 135 lbs to face Oscar at the official weight.

Nah, Margarito was not a more appealing opponent than Ortiz, at this stage of the game. At least with Ortiz, he looked good in his last fight. Margarito was KO'd by Shane and caught with plaster, then beat up by Manny. I don't understand why that fight would mean anything, at this point.

 

Personally, I don't care whether he gets credit or not. That's on him. I just want to see the best possible matchups, under the best possible circumstances.

I don't think that Pacquiao is a lot bigger than Marquez at 144. They both are just the same size.

 

Marquez is well aware of the possible weight advantage that Pac might have and I believe hes prepared himself well. After all, he is the one who hounded Pac for three years for a third fight.

 

call a spade a spade...if you gave floyd **** for fighting jmm at 146 then pac should be getting more **** for it considering jmm is now 2 years older. /shrug

i'm still on the side saying jmm will give pac fits throughout the fight. no way pac's KO'ing him.

Same thing was sad about Hatton @ 147 but when people said that, it was considered a stupid comment. (Despite that Hattons team had it planned out that he would train for like hes fighting at 140 and would weigh in at 145/147 but fight night he would be the same as he was at 140)
