Better Top 5 Wins at SMW: Froch or Calzaghe?

Froch got the better top 5 wins,

But Calzaghe has the better overall wins at SMW.

 

Calzaghe right now (in part because I still don't fee Froch actually beat Dirrell), but if Froch beats Ward, he easily passes Joe.

 

When under the microscope its close

Joe had
- Mikkel Kessler unbeaten had 2 belts and was a force to be reckon with and by the time of the S6 he was the number 1 this is the best win overal between the two

- Jeff Lacy hard to gauge he was on the way up and this was supposed to be a break out fight for him he was a huge favorite never the same since i think its a good win

- Chris Eubank though aging was still a very capable fighter and Joe was very young

- Robin Reid good fighter not great but a good win overall

- Byron Mitchell same as Reid

Carl has

- Jean Pascal well this may be his best win the guy was a Ring lhwt champ after their clash

- Glen Johnson moved down and scored a KO in the previous fight, a tough cookie and never and easy win, in what was a pretty good fight Froch edged it out

- Andre Dirrell young up and comer Froch beat in a bit of an ugly fight where he jsut out worked the guy and got physical on the inside

- Jermain Taylor not the best form of Taylor but he was good enough to drop Froch and find himself ahead going into the final round

- Arthur Abraham very good middleweight titlist but nothing special at SMW

Calzaghe at 168 seemed to have fought his foes when they were younger and fresher and at their best weight

Abraham and Taylor were above their best weight

Johnson was old and 175 may have been better for him though Glen looked and fought good at 168

Pascal moved up to 175 and is probably better suited there

not sure who id say has a better top 5 its close

Calzaghe not only would beat Froch head to head, but Calzaghe's resume puts Carl Froch's resume in the shade.

Calzaghe beat a prime 28 year old Mikkel Kessler, who was an unbeaten multiple super middleweight champion at the time, an older version of Kessler went onto beat Froch.

Calzaghe beat a prime 29 year old Jeff Lacy, who was an unbeaten multiple super middleweight champion at the time, Lacy was being called the new Mike Tyson at the time, Calzaghe ruined him, Lacy never fully recovered physically or mentally in a boxing sense after the beatdown Calzaghe gave him.

 

Taylor and Abraham are both non-eneties at the weight class and he lost to Dirrell. Johnson was a good win, but the man's in his 40's and habitually drops close decisions these days. Froch's SMW resume is weak.

 

All 5 on Calzaghe's card were much stronger than all 5 on Froch's card, hence the 5 on Calzaghe's card being multiple champions over and over and the 5 on Froch's card havent won one single world title at the weight between the lot of them.

 

Lacy was ruined after Calzaghe, Calzaghe beats Froch at any stage of their careers head to head and Calzaghe's resume of wins is much better than Froch's resume of wins, Froch resume of his five best wins dont include one single world champion at the weight, Joe Calzaghe on the other hand beat loads of world champions both present and past.

 

For now, I'm going with Slappy Joe. Froch has a more solid 2-5, but Slappy's #1 of a win over an undefeated Kessler is much better than Froch's 1 or 2.
