It will still be a gigantic upset for sure; all I'm saying is that if it isn't a fluke, it won't look like one. Biggest upset of the year for sure. Not sure about fighter of the year though. That usually depends on a higher level of consistency.

Well, consistency and quality. It may propel him up the P4P rankings, but these world title challengers don't seem high enough themselves P4P for the institution to realistically consider granting him fighter of the year. He may in reality deserve it with the win over Donaire on top of it, but without more big names over the course of the year, it would be hard to get that achievement. Although this year hasn't really seen a fighter of the year, so maybe you're right.
Salido was no bum and no it would different... Juanma was a a lot of hype that salido derailed. Donaires by everyone's opinion is a special talent that no one at the lower weights can touch a P4P great who should break no sweat in this 25/1 fight. The three defenses by themselves make his 2011 resume better than all but those of maybe a dozen other people in the entire sport. (ironically, because of CONSISTENCY more than any one of them being a spectacular win...just three very solid ones. In descending order: Seda B+, Urina B, Zaleta B-. How many people fit in three world title defenses against guys in the B range of quality in one single calendar year?). Add the A++++++ win that Donaire would be, and he's a lock for BOTY. Nobody else would have a win to match his win over Donaire (or to even come close), no matter what happens in November and December. Nobody else would be 4-0 on the year against top world-ranked opposition of no lower than B minus quality. Going by quantity of important bouts, quality of opposition in those bouts and consistency of performances against that opposition in those bouts (Seda gave him some difficulty, but Seda's really good IMO and will come by a world title eventually) - Narvaez would have to be the forerunner no matter how he beats Donaire.
