Okami is not a top level wrestler. He's alright for a Japanese fighter, but he wouldn't make a D1 university team in the US. The olympic wrestler who hasn't used his wrestling in mma, and got wrestle****ed by Jake Shields dominated the first round of their fight. Silva and Dana White allowed him to duck Shields. And I guarantee you Silva will try and duck Sonnen, but fortunately for everyone involved not named ANderson, Sonnen has hyped this thing up to the point that it has to happen.
He's Chael's second best win ever. So it counts for Sonnen and not for Anderson..... And if you look at Yushin's resume, he has used his wrestling alot and has better wins than Mr Tap Out Sonnen Hendo was 40 and sweating down to 185 is a big ask for a man of his age. He gassed, Shields toughed out the most difficult 1st round he will ever have. And Im pretty sure Hendo used a sweep reversal wrestling move on Fedor to take his back standing andland that upper cut too Jake moved up to 185 in SF to make way for his team mate Nick Diaz at 170. He's a career long WW who IIRC has only had two fights at 185. Here's my thoughts on how Shields v Anderson would go, kinda the same as the Okami fight, in case you cant be bothered to read it http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showpost.php?p=10749531&postcount=27 And if you see Chael running his mouth to get back into contention after losing the first fight decisively and doing **** all except talk since because he was caught cheating as a way to stop Anderson ducking him then fine Take a drink kid :hi:
Okami isn't a good win for anyone. NOt if they want to be considered great. A victory over an Okami level fighter wouldn't even be mentioned on any other champion's list. He's a guy you should beat. And comparing SHields to Okami is laughable. Shields wouldn't have acted like a scared little *****. He would have been relentless with his takedowns, and there probably wouldn't have been anything Silva could have done about it. But that's boring, so instead we send him back down to WW, and let him fight the best mma wrestler. The worst possible match up for Shields.
Anderson vs Sonnen I should have been stopped in the third. Ref should be suspended for allowing SIlva to take that much punishment.
So you agree with me then, Chael is overrated? :rofl Except out strike Jake like Hendo in the 1st, Ellenberger, Kampman and of course, a half blind GSP did :rofl The same round that Anderson worked for a kimura when Sonnen had his back? It's not like Anderson rocked Sonnen at the beginning of the very next round either is it... Ok, we are done for the night fella, thanks for the laughs though. But I think you'd be more at home here http://www.sherdog.net/forums/f2/
Chael is overrated? Who the **** rates him highly? He gets subbed once a year. Anderson is the guy that got the **** kicked out him by a one dimensional wrestler with no sub defense. Believe me, if anyone starts talking about Chael being great, I'll be one of the first to post his fight results.
Meh, all that has to happen to prove you wrong is Anderson refuse the fight, and Sonnen get matched against a good Sub guy. Sonnen will lose gain (by sub hurr durr of course) and that will be that.. Of course people will still be into Sonnen (R) / Ann Coulter on hormones fake testicles until he is finally matched against Anderson, and looses again. Just drama..
Sonnen talked a bunch of **** about Nog, Anderson and his black belt. Seems Anderson's black belt was good enough to hold Sonnen off and Anderson had his wits about him to pull off a nice sub. An injured, normally elusive striker making a statement is how I look at that win.:good Sonnen should do some time down the card IMO.
:happy He is lucky to even be fighting in the UFC... look at Nate :deal Nate seems to be a nice guy though and doesn't really talk **** so i guess that is why he is gone and Sonnen isn't. Lynchburg
Actually its not. Nate has failed two drugs test whereas Sonnen only failed one. Zuffa has long taken a second failure = out policy.
