GSP out with a knee injury- Penn vs Diaz new main event.

Diaz v Penn is a main event in anyone`s language & should have been a 5 rder from the start regardless of whether it was the `main event` or not.

3 rds is not enough to split guys like Diaz & Penn, this will undoubtedly end in a controversial decision... 5 rds should separate true champions... I got Diaz in a 5 rder.

Agree would have preferred to see them fight 5 rds.

 

BJ dont want 25 minutes of Diaz. He can last 15, hes far more skilled, got a great chin. If things change and this becomes a 5 rounder, im picking Diaz, otherwise, Penn tools him.

A 5 rounder only changes things if Penn's opponent is capable of taking him down and wearing him out via wrestling for the 1st three rounds ala Hughes, GSP and Fitch

That sound like Diaz to you? No, wont happen guys unfortunately, Diaz didnt take down guys in KJ and Daley, who he had a clear advantage over on the matt, what make you think he will do the same to BJ

Penn's more than capable of going the 5 in a striking match, his cardio was fine against Frankie and Sanchez

 

Stoo, wrestling isn't the only thing that can tire hmi. I can't see wrestling boxing as hard as Diaz does for 5 rounds. A tired BJ penn goes from one of the best fighters ever to a contender.

 

I cant see this precedent for this tbh fella. I will admit I can see Diaz taking 3/5 in a 25 minute match, quite possible. But I dont think you'll see Penn gas as badly as people are making out like it's a certainty, and I think Penn can have 3 in the bag by the 4th as well with Diaz trying to strike with him

 

sanchez aint that great a striker though and i cant see how his cardio was fine when he was outhussled by edgar and LOST twice, diaz can set a pace like he did against daley and bj cannot keep up with that pace and will be eventually walked down especially if it goes 5, the extra 2 rds will make a difference

i love it when a fight is split down the middle like this, everyone picking different ways, well its either that or your a huge BJ fan!

 

Edgar is quicker than Penn, but Penn is quicker than Diaz. Simple
