I only heard the news and caught the title on FN. Dunno how the CSAC could go against the WBC. But MMA Chad still has the WTKO in his unofficial boxrec record... so I'm confused now.
There have been multiple articles about it, and the CSAC rule is final for the official result. It's only the WBC at this point that whatever the official ruling is, Hopkins keeps their belt. So it might come to him having a TKO loss and still be champ :!:
Yes but if they ruled a draw and CSAC upholds the original decision... that's two outcomes for one fight? Never heard of such thing. I always thought whatever sanctioning bodies do - they are called that for a reason - is the final ruling but of course the US state athletic boxing system produced some funny things over the years.
Yes, that's the joke of it all... :yep here's the thread link: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=352134 Remember the Kermit the frog vs Williams fight going to the cards after 3 rounds and a minute (CSAC rule)?!
seems I missed some fights off: 10/22 - Paulus Moses vs. Richard Abril - Moses UD 10/29 - Luis Concepcion vs. Hernan Marquez II - Marquez SD 10/29 - Ivan Calderon vs. Raul Garcia - Calderon UD 10/29 - Katsunari Takayama vs. Nkosinathi Joyi - Joyi TKO

Uh...maybe on account of them being the higher authority on the matter of official results in their jurisdiction than the WBC? :yep (in fact, the only authority ...where the WBC has no authority at all). The WBC can make whatever decision they want regarding their green belt, but that has **** all to do with anything but the green belt. :good
How's a local commission a higher authority than a world organization? It was a WBC world championship fight under WBC rules with a WBC supervisor, judges and ref (obviously with officials licensed in the local state), had it happened in any other country, the WBC decision would be official by now... because... the WBC sanctioned it and parties paid a sanctioning fee just for that. Now the problem is the stupid US state athletic system that is interfering again, but per WBC rules: The WBC decided it was an accidental or illegal action, obviously under 5 rounds, and declared, following it's own rules, a technical draw. Curious if the CSAC can and will ignore this, and if so, which outcome will go into the history books - the California decision or the World Boxing Council's? Then again... it was for the WBC belt not some CSAC title... Anyways... that's professional boxing to you and you wonder why it's barely breathing in the US...
Again, the WBC can only make determinations about their own belt. They are not a commission. They are the ultimate authority when it comes to their own belt; on non-WBC matters they have no authority. Possession of the WBC belt is their purview, their jurisdiction. The result itself and possession of the ring belt are NOT. How are you unable to understand this? You really don't seem to be grasping what each body's role and powers are (or more to the point, what they aren't).
The WBC is a sanctioning body. This sanctioning body has a Rulebook. Promoters pay the WBC not for the green belt, but to bring their rulebook, ref, judges and supervisor. If say there's an accidental headbutt, the ref takes the point away from the uncut fighter because it's in the WBC Rolebook. The WBC has an entire chapter for World Championship Boxing Rules, and for a reason: when they sanction a fight, they use those rules. According to those rules, if an accidental or intentional incident ends the fight before the 5th round begins, it's a technical draw, that's what the WBC appointed ref and the WBC supervisor should've ruled then, and that's what they ruled now. The part where this gets tricky is when the WBC rules (which are definitely in effect in a WBC World Championship Fight such as Hopkins-Dawson), are in conflict with local rules, such as the CSAC's. So the WBC, which has the right to change the outcome of a fight they sanctioned, now has to wait for the CSAC's ruling on the incident too, because in that particular part of the world they made up different rules for themselves and say they review incidents themselves. Had it been in Canada or the UK or Germany or Japan or South Africa or Australia or Russia or Poland or Ireland, it'd be officially a TD by now. Only in America you have to wait 2 months for the local commission to make their own decision despite the paid sanctioning body already did. So we wait. Clear?
Kirk my man! I was thinking why don't we have a 'face' of our own like SNV for GTMSBT? Could be another boxer, active or historical, any character or a sexy female, animal, object, a belt etc... anything associated with Kirk's ESB Championships! Would love to do official Kirk photoshops, but can only do fun with other posters avatars, and I'm treating the GTMSBT far too well! This content is protected
