Has anyone seen any LaBarba footage in addition to the Kid Chocolate bout thats floating about. Impressed the hell out of me. Always thought his fight with Battalino must have been a war.
Shade fought ouuta the Bronx but originally he was from cal. Mike Silver wrote a story years ago about Lamottas trainer teaching Jake some of shades tricks.

I am a documentary film maker - making a film about Jews and boxing - mainly between the First and Second World Wars. I am looking for people who have memories of fighters and fights that they have met, watched - and would be interested in sharing them on film. Take a look at my website: www.pugilistpictures.com and watch the trailer. I would very much like to talk with you - if you are intrested. my email is This content is protected Thanks!
I am a documentary film maker - looking for fight footage or non acting footage - of Maxie Rosenbloom. Does anyone know of any that they can put me in the direction of? My website for my film is www.pugilistpictures.com Thanks for any help!
Some great ones their (as well as previously posted). It is hard to believe that such a super fight as Fitzsimmons Jeffries II has been lost. It has to be the best chance of being found. Surely it would have been widely distributed.
Greb smacked him silly. I read that Maxie changed his style after this fight and became more unorthodox ala Greb.
This is not the Hollywood versions here mate just real film of real fighters,... you are out-genre'd.
Love to see that Carpentier V Gunboat Smith film.... I have Gunboats memoirs, and he mocks his own efforts in that fight,,,,, and he got whalloped.
Yeah right! Gunboat Smith was robbed in that fight. It caused a sensation. I have Gunboat Smith's recorded audio interview done for "In This Corner" where he discusses the fight. His recollection is almost spot on with the ringside accounts most of which felt Smith was poorly done. When the films were shown to experts it was said they reinforced the idea that the victory was awarded cheaply. He got walloped my ass.
