Nope, never said so. I think Wlad's cautious style (that he exhibits even against the worst of opponents) makes for many dull fights. It is what it is, no denying it. I never claimed Wlad was exciting.

The Lewis crowd was claiming Lewis had exciting fights against dangerous opposition. The opposite is the truth. Lewis was a crowd-pleaser whenever he became cocky and became reckless, taking big risks. Whenever Lewis was respectful of his opposition and dwelled on how dangerous they were then it made for dull fights because he avoided taking any risk.

 

Going into a bout, I don't expect a fighter to say anything other than he's in top shape.

Lewis wasn't in terrible, Douglas-Holyfield/Kirk Johnson-Vitali type shape with rolls of fat around him, but he definitely could have been in better shape. Hell, even Vitali said after the fight that Lewis wasn't in good condition.

He was exhausted as hell, but that wasn't only due to subpar conditioning. It was also because of the fast pace.
