i personally think primetime let us down ,when they expect us to pay £15 for a fight and dont do it in HD ,when we know there will be an HD feed avail for it from the states.

I have no problem with any channel whom charge for PPV, but only if they reinvest the cash for small hall shows and up and coming fighters. Primetime merely look for the faces in the sport and charge you to watch them. Putting **** all into the pot which makes these fighters the faces in the long run. Horrible business mantra they have really, on that basis I hope they go bump.

 

But they can only afford to pay more for the fight because enough fans will fund it by paying £15 to watch it. Sky would get more buyers if they put the same card on Sky Box Office so would you be happy with that?

No other channel can compete with pay per view if enough people are willing to buy it which it looks like they are. But the problem is it's bad for the majority that aren't willing to pay top price for just a few hours tv at 4 in the morning.

To be fair If you look at The whole Primetime business model, it also includes Channel 5. So they might not support small hall boxing ( I don't know any other channel which does?) but they do provide free to air terrestrial coverage.
Essentially from What I can see, the only gripe anyone has is they have to pay to see Primetime. That's fair enough, I'd prefer free boxing too. But all of the other criticisms seem unfair to me. Well all apart from HD. But personally, it doesn't bother me much really.

All Venus is doing is advertising Primetime's fights. If nobody wants to buy, then don't buy. There is no need for all this abuse.

You have outlined valid reasons for disliking Primetime's business module. I respect that.

I can see what your saying but Channel 5 make doe from adverts and are mixing with Fury who is well known before they got into it.

If sky charges ppv for say Khan, they have cards from matchroom and hatton etc coming on making stars and they complete a circle; From prospect to ppv and start again etc. Primetime merely look for the ppv fighter and dont look for these prospects or help them up the way. So we as fans pay for these prospects to learn via subscription to sky only to lose them further down the line to these ****s. It's a bitter pill to swallow mate.

I see Pac and PBF fights are the highlighst of my year as a boxing fan and a massive sweetner on sky for having to pay for their subscription. Now they gone I will cancel cos I cannot justify paying £25 a month/£300 a year on just that before the other stuff.

As a fan we have to pay for sky sports, espn, premier, primetime and soon boxnation. Jesus ****ing wept, I am being greased HARDCORE :yikes

Skysports give me premier league footie and boxing for my cash,
Espn give me off games of footie and boxing but mainly ufc.
Premier are pish but still we get fights and they are cheap.
Primetime just scorch the bollocks off ya and go the whole hog by charging £15 for a fight you would of got in your sky sports package.

We are in a recession for **** sake. No wonder, with ****s like these penalising the loyal fans that boxing is finding it hard. I shudder when I think of PrimeTime sticking around for years to come.

 

Laughable, City are spreading the wealth in the league pal. When they spend £15mill on a Milner they spend £20 on bent at Sunderland who spend money buying O'Shea, brown etc. They are pumping money in not taking out. Glazers, Gillet+Hicks, arsenal etc are killing footie by making fans pay loadsa cash to watch the teams whilst they suck the clubs dry for profit.

The same city that have spent over £500million outside of the team to boost infrastructure and local business developments, we will have the best academy to come in a few years. Man Utd have bought their starting 11 ffs (De Gea, Evra, Rio, Vidic, Smalling,Young, Anderson, Nani, Rooney, Chicarito with only Fletcher coming through the ranks so dont give me bought a team bollocks). Laughable to bring that into the debate.

Primetime are in the business for what they can take, not what the can give. Sky have made the Premier league what they have today and produced Hatton whom is the biggest British fighter of our generation.

Primetime charge for Holyfield v Botha, do the ****ing math.

 

Padman that's fair enough on boxing ( your comments on the Premier League are nonsense. The money has absolutely ruined our national sport, City, Chelsea, the Americans. We were better off in 1992 before the Premier League. Absolutely killed it. But this is a boxing forum so Its a different debate) re PPV. I agree It's pricey I agree. I tend to make a night of it if I watch a ppv, so it costs me less than a night out with the missus. If 3 or 4 of us gets a few beers in and a few games of cards between Fury and PT starting it's not an expensive night by comparison ( unless you get scorched playing poker)

But I don't agree about Matchroom producing stars, they took all of their marquee names from other promoters. I don't have a problem with that as such but it would be misleading to paint them as the philanthropists who look after our best interests. Its a business at the end of the day. Most channels are subscription only. Primetime charge per fight like we,d pay for a film at the cinema. I totally agree with anyone who says it's an expensive way to watch boxing, especially if you already pay all the other channels. But we,re all free individuals. We aren't forced to pay them all.
I just think all this talk of being a cancer in the sport and wishing people dead is over the top bordering on the ludicrous
