Do you consider Tyson to be a H2H top 5 heavyweight?

Forget where you think he places on straight accomplishments, resume, just who you think he should be favored against of the great heavies at his/their best. On a pure H2H list, is he top 5, for you? If not, is he close?

No. He is close though. About seventh or eighth on my list.

Not for me. Ali, Lewis, Louis, Holyfield, Johnson, Holmes and Vitali all beat him for me.

He beats Rocky, Dempsey, Wlad, Charles, Jersey Joe, and perhaps Frazier.

I'm unsure about Bog George tbh.

    I'm saying yes... for now.

I'm currently undergoing a great re-evaluation of all the heavyweights.

as it stands I see him behind only

    louis
    ali
    liston

but my opinion might soon change.

LUFC - 1) how far back are you going in your evaluation
And 2) Are you going to post your findings?

I'll be interested to have a read thru

Also, I forgot about Liston. He also beats Mike

There are more than five heavyweights in history that I would expect to beat Mike Tyson.

Yes, the only ones who could beat him at his best are Ali, Holyfield and Lewis for me. Louis feet are too slow and doesn't have a good enough defence, Liston is just too slow, Dempsey/Marciano are just too small, Johnson hasn't got the workrate, Frazier doesn't have the defence/chin, Foreman doesn't have the defence/speed/skills, Bowe doesn't have the defence or outside game, Wlad doesn't have the chin, Vitali's leaning back defence won't work against the pressure of Tyson and Holmes stylistically won't keep him off him imo

back to Sullivan. I've bumped my "premiere hw timeline" thread and that plays a part in my overall estimation; i'm going to be reviewing every HW who I feel at some point was the best in the world.

Yes I'll be posting it. I need to do a bit more analysis on each man's resume and then condier a big round robin H2H scenario before finalising my rankings.

Yeah Sully is the logical start point I would think, particularly with his fight against Corbett.

    Looking forward to it!

Yes and anyone who knows anything about boxing and watched it long enough cant definitively pick any fighter over Mike Tyson at his best. The fighters themselves say the same thing. There are fighters that would stand a good chance against Tyson but Tyson stands as good of a chance against all of them.

Yeah like Mike Spinks. :rofl Even the cocky Ali says Tyson would have been a very difficult fight for him and I give Ali the best chance to outpoint Mike out of all of them.

:good I agree Ali would trouble him from the first conference, Tyson would be in trouble before they step in the ring, and there if it goes past 5 rounds there is no way Tyson can win, and i think with footwork and jab Ali would keep Tyson away from him.
