Why do you hate Hopkins that much?

i dont hate him but im definitely not as much of a fan of his as i used to be, he has just turned into a bigger ******* ever since he lost to Calzaghe

 

I dont hate him. I just dont care for his dirty fighting and ott acting in the ring

 

bs, hopkins was only off his feet because he was leaning illegally. When he did fall, the main weight of impact was on his ass, not his shoulder. Watch the damn video again, and notice how upset and uninjured Bhop appears in the corner, as well as the angle of impact (on his ass, then he rolls over to fake the shoulder injury).

It wasn't even a hard landing, he landed on his feet first, than his ass, than his elbow. People try it make seem like Hopkins fell six feet from the air and landed on concrete. I think most people EXPECTED Hopkins to get up and continue fighting, but of course he had to disappoint everyone and quit.

Not hate, but dislike is prefer... The guy has done great things in this sport, but at the same time and lately has use his constant complaining and acting skills and using the ref. so much it has gotten to an irritating level and simply not cool esp. when you are known to be the guy for dirty and tricky tactics part of your career and then the first to complain about in a bout...

 

And he looks like that UFC guy Dan Henderson, so much so that it bugs me yet no-one else seems to see it.

#2 he couldnt have fell any softer if he tried

#5 he saw a way out of the fight and took it...doesnt mean he was scared, or losing, it was a way for him to steal an easy pay check without fighting and come back and do it again and get paid twice

 

Hopkins prevented Dawson from having his due opportunity to take his title back. His pathetic display cheated everyone but himself, but it's par for for the course for Bernard.

 

Agreed. But no matter how I agree with it, its only right that Dawson doesn't get the belt and the decision to be ruled NC or TD. Rules are rules, Hopkins knew how to play the game in every possible way

 

This is a slomo Lud...Hopkins didn't illegally lean on Dawson, he missed coming in with a R hand, and was instantaneously lifted up and dropped. Both his feet are off the ground, so the whole short soft fall argument is out the window. He's also 46, and shoving your humerus into your shoulder socket can be damaging for even a younger man. While the injury is not career threatening, it would be painful and hamper movement, especially his left hook.

He also stated that he would/could continue however limited to one arm. The ref stopped it and wrongly called it a TKO which can only be called when a fighter is being legally beaten to the point he can not, or should not continue.

It was a cheat shot whether instigated or not, and should have resulted in a DQ or the fight going on with a warning to Dawson for ducking to low and causing Hop to lean.

As a fan of B-Hop, he brings it on himself. Going back to the Robert Allen fight way back when, his pathetic displays after Calzaghe tapped his groin protector, and then the "I'm in agonizing pain" against Jones after he was tapped in the back of the head. And this fall looks questionable, but who am I to say if he really did or didn't injure himself. He definitely has a history of histrionics, and I could easily see why people don't like him. And it doesn't help matters that he calls himself a gangsta in every other interview. Though it doesn't change the fact that he has an amazing career and is an immensely skilled fighter with a boxing brain for the ages.

 

Hopkins is an overachiever, someone truly starting from low without the hype and succeeding without a spectacular athletic style or hype.

So: less knowledgeable people who jump on any spectacular train such as Roy's or Oscar's feel free to criticize those who are less obviously talented, and when those less obviously talented or just lesser known fighters PROVE THESE PEOPLE WRONG, these people become haters because nobody likes to be proven stupid.

Vic Darchinyan after the Donaire fight, Calzaghe after poor performances, Hopkins after Taylor, Bute after Andrade, Khan after Prescott - these people who jump on any hype train MUST throw mud at those they disregarded earlier, because admitting they were wrong hurts that much more. So they hate.

Hopkins is one of those cases.
