I'm a combat vet too and mostly a conservative but....There are so many factors you have to take into consideration here. You're working on a degree? Think about it analytically instead of knee jerk. Remember that even some conservatives thought the war was a lost cause. Not because they were unpatriotic but because they knew the South Vietnamese would never support themselves. We have a similar situation in Arabia now....Also consider the civil rights situation at the time. Imagine getting home from Iraq/Afghanistan and being told that your kid can't ride the bus because he's white, black, purple, ect. I realize that the civil rights ball had started its roll by this point but it had no means reached its destination.

 

Remaining an inspiration to millions of people...

Whereas you are abusing people on the internet. I'm going to swing towards him in the debate over who has had a more positive impact on the world.

And Mr History, there is no Diem Biem Phu. It's Dien Bien Phu, a battle widely regarded as the single biggest reason America should never have gotten involved in Vietnam.

I think Latin America would be doing quite well without Operation Condor, the Contras, Pinochet, NAFTA, purposeful exposure to AIDS & HIV by researchers, etc.

No. Most "dumb kids" who join the Army aren't thinking about your freedom. Some want to go to college. Others want to support their family. And others still want to serve their country. But whatever their motivation, good men died in Iraq. Better men than you. Whether or not they died protecting you from terrorists is an argument I won't make here. But some died trying to HELP the Iraqi people. And I don't care what a piece of **** like you believes. Nobody is asking to you mourn them or wave the flag. But you could show a little ****ing respect.

 

Seems like a popularity ranking with voters aged 12 to 30 years old, with casual boxing knowledge..
