Bagpipes herald the arrival of Sean Monaghan.

The Irish light heavyweight is about to engage in up to 6 rounds against Anthony Pietrantonio - a Youngstown guy, presumably a Jack Loew guy? Pietrantonio will be looking to salvage the day for the Loew stable after Billy Lyell fell short in a good showing against Dominik Britsch in Germany earlier today..

    Round 1

Pietrantonio is coming forward slamming with right hands and causing Monaghan to petrify a bit in the opening half minute. Now Mongahan shows a good hook that slightly buckles Pietrantonio's legs. Mongahan is countering the lumbering right hand with a left hook that isn't exactly fast, but faster and shorter-traveling...and thudding hard on Pietrantonio's face. Pietrantonio is trying to work his way in with uppercuts now but wary of counters and often stopping his charges short halfway in and backing out. Both men cautious. Pietrantonio circles to the right, tosses out some light jabs. They come together in a clinch and Monaghan lands a BIG LOOPING RIGHT as they separate. Pietrantonio is taking flush bombs. Good chin. More right hands by Monaghan coming forward, and some jabs landing well.

    10-9 Monaghan

****, this is a nice little fight.

Monaghan is the classier guy so far, but it doesn't look like a mismatch.

    Round 2

Lead rights by Pietrantonio, getting picked off. Monaghan throws wild hooks to the body ducking in. Pietrantonio backs him off with a 1-2, clapping up against the gloves. Tight guard by Monaghan. Combo by Pietrantonio stepping in. Left, right left combo favored by Pietrantonio driving in. Pietrantonio jabs while backing up, keeping Monaghan at the end of it. Monaghan starts to drive his own hard jab forward from out of his tight guard while stalking in. Good right hand by Monaghan. Another right hand searching up high for the taller man's chin as Pietrantonio bends off to the side to roll with it. They lean in to a near clinch and Pietrantonio taps the body softly. They trade clipping hooks as Pietrantonio backs up. Monaghan's landing some HEAVY hooks. Now a right hand. Pietrantonio is backed to the ropes and takes some uppercuts to the belly. Pietrantonio is looking completely ****ed. He is put in the corner and clobbered. Hard hooks and rights by Monaghan.

    20-18 Monaghan

He may have a good chin, but his heart is lacking. He already looks like he wants out. He won't make it past the next round. Just sayin'.

EDIT: Take it back. Nothing wrong with this dude's heart.

On the East Coast it's an Italian vs. an Irishman.

On the West Coast it's just two white guys.
