This was originally scheduled for 6 rounds, then changed to 4, and now back to 6 according to Sheridan.

This has been a good undercard so far, considering how many mismatches-on-paper.

Granted, there haven't been any surprises as the favorites have all won handily (and the pattern looks to be holding based on how this one has started) but it's been good action.

    Round 2

Gonzalez whips out fast combos, backing Rivera up with left hooks up top and right hands slicing out at chest level. Rivera starts his slow stalking approach as soon as Gonzalez is done flurrying. Rivera keeps tucked up and tries to land left hooks over the top, raining over the short Boricua's guard. Gonzalez backs away and yanks his head straight back to avoid a right hand. Gonzalez is boxing very carefully from the outside. Rivera lands a right hand as Gonzalez misses a wild left hook delivered from the parking lot. Rivera is keeping the pressure on. Hard flurry from Gonzalez poking up from a position crouched just underneath Rivera. Short hook by Gonzalez and Rivera is down on his knees. He takes most of a standing eight count after popping right up. Body shot by Gonzalez. The referee warns Gonzalez for hitting Rivera in the buttocks.

    10-8 Gonzalez

    20-17 Gonzalez

"Donaire against 'Nuff-Rice" :patsch He did it again!!

A producer needs to get on that and educate Sheridan through his earpiece.

This Gonzales kid is good. Nice movement, quick hands, power in both hands. I love the leverage he gets in his punches. His small stature can work in his favor in the lower weights.

Rich Marotta says Ivan Calderon is probably watching this and jealously wishing he had his countryman's power.:lol:

    Round 3

Rivera keeps coming forward and trying to place one of those hooks despite getting lit up by fast paint-chipping shots by the little southpaw as he buzzes all around him with quick footwork. Rivera lunges with a right hand and misses, then leans against Gonzalez and makes him wrestle a bit in an effort to sap some of the quicker and smaller boxer's energy. Gonzalez is backing up and waiting with right hooks to make Rivera abandon his offense and duck into clinches.

    30-26 Gonzalez

La Bomba is an excellent prospect. If he develops a jab, he can be a serious force. He even has some defensive skills.
