A fresh request on behalf of Ike Williams

    I made a similar thread last year but unfortunately to no avail.

    I feel it's an absolute must that this situation be dealt with.

    Once upon a time (two or three years ago), my computer crashed and I lost about a thousand fights or whatever it was. Loads though, and some were quite rare, and one of, if not the most prized fight in that long list was Ike Williams KO1 Jose Gatica. I was devastated at losing that fight alone as I consider the content of the brief footage to be one of the absolute finest punching displays in filmed history.

    Put it this way; I'd already been blown away by the Jack TKO, like you all were, but this was on another level for precision punching and so I was blown away for a second time, squinting and rewinding perhaps thirty times in one sitting.

    This fight really does need to be seen, but as I said, I don't have it anymore. Somebody must have - I think I even downloaded it off this site. If you've got it, please put it on Youtube for all to see!

    I guarantee Williams will move further up the lightweight list.

    Proof I've seen it: Gatica rushes in, finds some minor success, then Williams lines him up. Left hook decks Gatica. Rises, returns, left hook drops him again. Final combination is a right uppercut, two left hooks and a straight right, lightning fast.

    M,Sorry I can't help you retrieve the film of the Ike Williams ko of Jose Gatica in 1951. The Ike Williams demolition which I saw in Philly of Beau Jack,1948,can be seen often on youtube though. How impressive my man
    Ike Williams was koing Gatica in 1951, it should be noted Williams was on the DOWNSIDE by then,and 5 months later was kod by Jimmy Carter for the title, just 5 months later.The Williams I saw in his prime was a revalation to see without the cuffs on,and the best lightweight I ever saw.

    Ike Williams is a top 3 lightweight of all time in my opinion

    What might not be known about this fight is that soon afterwards Gatica was sent into a downward spiral of epic proportions, culminating in him being driven over by a bus on the streets while a broken man.

    Williams vs Gatica was one of my wish I could see fights....Gatica was a well know fighter in Argentina, one of the boxing heroes there.....
    His rivalry with Alfredo "Cabezón" Prada is probably the biggest rivalry of South American boxing history.....

    by the way, Saddler also beat Prada.....
