    Good list. Altho i'm surprised you rank johnson so low if it's resume based.

    Bivins has a useful resume also.

    I do have a resume based ranking also but can't access it from my phone.

    Yeah being viewed as the best hw on the planet is quite a large part of my ranking.

    Yawn. I get it you love cuban boxers and probably believe felix would have been the goat had he turned pro.

    I don't have time to compile monthly rankings of my own so I use the ring's. To my knowledge solis was never ranked in the top ten monthly rankings by the ring.

    I don't give a **** about his amateur credentials. When he returns from injury hopefully he'll face a live opponent, earn a top ten place and then i'll include him.

    That's what I found most pleasing about the list.

    Rocky is a personal favorite, as I'm a sucker for the shorter heavyweights that managed a great deal of success. His legacy is quite good obviously, 49-0, highest KO% in division history. Relentless, tireless work ethic both in and out of the ring; heavy, powerful hands. However, I don't objectively feel he beat anybody Frazier or Tyson or Dempsey wouldn't run through and his extremely short reach is going to be a big obstacle to overcome against ATG heavyweights h2h, both against fellow swarmers and boxers alike. I can't really envisioning him beating Ali, as Frazier managed at least once.

    Your knowledge is garbage. Solis was ranked in the Ring TOP10. At the time Vitali fought him.

    If that is your criteria you should really remove a lot of boxers from that list. But I'm not gonna do your work for you.

    I like your lists lufc. My only minor gripe would be the suggestion that Louis should be favoured over everyone. I certainly wouldn't have him as a favourite going into a Lewis or Ali fight, but that's just a matter of opinion. I probably wouldn't make him a favourite against the Klitschkos either, but I'm far from objective when it comes to the brothers

    Again incorrect.

    He was never ranked in the monthly top ten.

    Everyone i've listed has been top ten ranked (ring from it's inception, matt d's before hand and newspaper consensus before that) and or a title holder.

    I don't care how you rate my knowledge because if i'd have put savon at number 1 with an honourable mention for gomez you'd probably be inboxin me offering to suck my dick whilst we watch highlights of the 2004 olympic finals.

    I can't imagine anyone beating the louis from the schmelling rematch up until the war. As you say, it's all opinion at the end of the day.

    I like way you did list, I disagree with many choices, but it's interesting way you did it. :good


    I have Marciano Louis and Dempsey at top with Tyson. Foreman was lacking stamina and did not do enough in prime, ko losses to Ali and Young plus almost ko'd by slow Ron lyle. Holyfield gets near top from longevity. Lewis had weak chin, and his losing to pair of average (at best) fighters by ko shows he was not great. Holmes was very tough, an attribute he never seems to get enough credit for. However he did not fight 3 best of his era, Page, Dokes, and Coatzee. Cooney was a joke of a contender, but due to publicity and interst in that fight it became bigger fight than it deserved.

    Sam Langford I don't rank at all, he's a favorite of some, I don't see why. Not as heavyweight especially.

    As for Klit brothers, I think they may make cut for top 10, especially Vitali. Wlad was way too inconstant and unreliable in early tittle fights, seems improved.

    Its a good list.

    I disagree with a good portion of it, but not by much. And its damn fair.

    currious to see how did you rate JJ's opponents because there wasn't any ring magazine in his time....3rd ATG, i'm sure his placing so high is well justified and i have no reasons to doubt that

    My main aim was consistency when deciding which ranked opponents to include.

    From the ring's inception i've stuck with their annual and monthly rankings.

    From the 1890's until the ring's inception there is a poster on here called matt donnellon; he's taken the time to research and produce annual rankings for the hw division. It is these rankings I used. So anyone defeated by johnson who has held the coloured title or been ranked by matt d has been listed.

    I also only count losses during what I determine to be a fighter's prime. And only losses that I determine to be legit.

    Johnson's resume for me is elite level: take a top ten of 1905-1910 and he's probably beaten them all.
